Unbelievable! This makes three failures in a row from completely unrelated boosters.

We need the Right Stuff, again!

But it still blew up. The old Rolls Royce Merlins may have been a better choice, possibly a little slower but would have sounded nicer.

It had to do with uncontrolled venting from the second stage. Hopefully they will get it worked out and send up a replacement flight ASAP.

First stage failures almost always occur because of rocket nozzle damage or problems with the engine turbomachinery. Both are in the extreme-aft of the stage. Something forward let go. (which means the failure was not normal). SpaceX's Merlin engines have been very reliable. Only one has failed, but did not doom the mission due to redundancy. Legitimate causes might be the interstage structure failing, or the payload shroud buckling.
