Ms. Tristane Banon -- this is a pure vulgar & opportunistic publicity of ( sorry ) rather bad taste -- One can attract public attention via other means instead..

Hear, hear PT.

The Americans have spunked enough money up the judicial wall, where DSK's money-grubbing accuser at least had some form of a case.

Banon, coming from the Champagne Socialist glitterati is indeed looking for spotlight time over money I imagine. Since it was years ago and there isn't a scrap of evidence I hope she's charged for wasting police time.

I am not sure why you are so down on Banon. I wonder if you ever thought she felt she had no case earlier, but given the publicity of the other case, she now does? Or that her case could help the maid?

Rape cases are very hard to solve, and they often hinge on the most unrelated and preposterous details. Evidence? There was plenty of liquid evidence against DSK, but he walked, just for changing his story from "never happened" to "consensual". What more could you have to prove it? Is a black eye necessary? Three third party witnesses? A video recording?

Remember, Banon started this case when it looked like the maid had a chance. All she can do now is carry it out to its conclusion whether she is telling the truth or not. And she might be. I still cannot believe Snake Pliskin here escaped from New York! Any of us made story change like that, we would be toast!

The US accuser turned out to be a serial liar, with evidence pointing to nothing more than a scam on her part. The fact that she filed a civil case before the other proceedings were solidified, and more importantly were clearly about to collapse speaks volumes of her intentions.

If Bannon felt so strongly about she should have spoken up at the time. I'm sure he probably had his hand on her ass or something equally vile you'd expect of an old rich pervert used to getting his own way. But I doubt the attempted rape, and if so, where's the evidence?

As a business owner and a tax-payer, I object to public money being jizzed up the wall. Especially at a time of financial and economic woe.

Bannon should be charged for wasting police time. Even a muppet can see this case is going nowhere. In fact, DSK's lawyers will have a field day on the defamation charge.

Oh, and I'm down on most of France's champagne socialists, or la gauche caviar as we call them here. Their time has been and gone with, France left in the economic ruins of years of mis-rule.

Neither personal nor as broad as resentment against ' la gauche caviar' ( her mother was but having doubt if herself could be described as such ).. The case of Tristane Banon, for me, sounded like a vulgar starlet trying to attract eyeballs at the sidewalk of the Festival de Cannes -- C'est insupportable !

This case is over 8 years old, no evidence. It is the classic he said, she said. Nothing is going to happen

Like I said, how people judge this is going to be on side issues. What you just said is that liars and scammers can't get raped, or, they deserve it. None of that proves it didn't happen. Also, there is no proof she is just a scammer. You can't blame her for wanting a payout if she got raped. Really, there is no direction all that could not be twisted. It all speaks volumes of nothing.

For example, you say the quick filing of the civil case shows clear bad intentions. Have you considered that since they knew this guy would be skipping to France, they figured they had better file now before he goes? And he did go.

where's the evidence?

You keep asking that. But you never answer the question of what would satisfy you.

You say that discrediting the maid is plenty for that case. But what about DSK? He went from "nothing happened" and "I have diplomatic immunity" to "Oh. I forgot! It was consensual!". To me, that explains a hell of a lot more. And the details of DSKs new story would too. But the maid got grilled and raked over the coals. DSK got treated with kid gloves.

But his reputation has been damaged. That helps Banon, just like all these other fringe details help. I don't think she will win either. But the ball is in motion. If she just backs down it will tarnish her pretty bad. She just can't do that.
