Striking on a busy holiday certainly has an impact --not sure that's the best way to gain sympathy with the people on the street. Sure it puts a dent in the operator's revenue, but it's felt most by their punters (riders) and ultimate bosses --the commuters, whose sympathy, I'd imagine, they would welcome.

This is why socialists and communists love "mass transit" and why they hate automobiles. Mass transit gives them power. In post-WWI Italy, it wasn't so much that the trains didn't run on time, they didn't run at all. If the socialists saw a priest or a soldier on the train, they would refuse to let it run until that person was evicted. The Italian people had to resort to walking or taking a horse-drawn cart. That is, until Mussolini fixed the problem of Italian mass transit. Then the trains ran. Time for Cameron to bring the whip down on these transit clowns.

I wish they wouldn't call it a 'service'. These drivers are already way overpaid and the way they go about the job is haphazard, casual and unprofessional. 'London's underground train lottery' would be a better description.
