Strong California wine country quake causes injuries, damage

All that wine gone to waste. I hope my friends are okay, I have a few living there. Big one this time! Stay safe people!

While new construction has to meet earthquake standards, the older ones like that old county courthouse don't get renovated to meet standards because of their historical status. City planners are stuck between a rock and a hard place regarding the older buildings. As much as the city would like to bring everything up to code, there's resistance from various historical preservation societies because doing so would change those historic buildings.
