Sailwind - I'm sorry to hit you with the truth bud, but the surge isn't working. It has successfully chilled Baghdad out. Ish.

Only the bastards have moved on to Baquba and the western province of Anbar.

And they'll do the same when troops go looking for them there. I'd though a military type bloke such as yourself would understand the fact that guerilla warfare "works".

Oh, and that's ignoring the shiite uprising in the south.

That Iran had to broker a deal with after the Iraqi "government" was forced to back down by al-Sadr's might.

Yeah - Saddam didn't treat his prisoners any better than let's say, uh, Saudia Arabia for example.

This bedlam, however, sure as hell wasn't happening every day in his Iraq as it is in America's Iraq.

Respectfully, you are missing my point.

I didnt mention Saudi at all. I said as bad as America has handled Iraq, they still treat their POWs way better than the bad guys. (mods- if Madverts can mention POWs, so can I)

If America used suicide bombers at a funeral the world would be outraged.(mods, directly relevant to the story)

But this story will get no more than a passing glance, thus a double standard.

I'm not sure what your point is. America may treat her POW's from the so-called war on terror better than medieval, despotic regimes. This is neither a good bench-mark for the US, nor has it anything to do with the continued murderous bedlam caused by the US invasion IMO.

Headlines and articles like this must really rankle people in Commonwealth hellholes like Jo'burg or Kingston, Jamaica, or in socialist disasters like Caracas, all with murder rates higher than Baghdad but none of the Yankee dollar pouring in.
