Can anyone point me to the passage in the Koran that promises 72 or even one Virgin to the believer?

@zenny - it does not exist, but is construed/ interpreted from a set of complicated references; you need to read:

Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 445: and Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 73: Both against suicide

There is no specific line but:

Sunan al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2562 says:

The Prophet Muhammad was heard saying: “The smallest reward for the people of Paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives ( not virgins)

But this line is also open to question, as the virgins could be mistranslated for white dates - an equally valuable commodity in the desert.

And for collateral death in war: The Quran teaches (3:169): “Do not consider those killed [while engaging] in God’s cause dead. Rather, they live with their Lord, who sustains them!”

Like a lot of religious books, they are open to various interpretations by different writers and experts.

I am aware that the Koran promises plenty of earthly delights in the afterlife as well as some restrictions like consumption of alcohol are lifted.

The point is that innocent people are killed for what?? There is so much lack of rationality in these people... Their minds are really *ed up! God save Europe if many of them immigrate there.

Europe better beware. The irrationality of this lot is really on the rise. I hope the ones putting her up to this are happy with their work. I wish the whole lot of them would just blow themselves up and leave the rest of us to live as we want. I'm sure there are many in Pakistan that agree with me.
