Perhaps the state trooper was being a tyrant? If you need evidence that America is obsessed with violence, just click on the photo and have a good look at the Virginia State seal painted on the police truck. Unbelievable.

Thanks Strangerland, here is a link to the larger full sized photo since it's a bit hard to see.

The trooper was participating in a training exercise with about a dozen other Troopers at the bus station when he was shot. They were in fatigues and not wearing body armor. Perhaps the shooter just wanted to "off" a cop?

Sic Semper Tyrannis is a Latin phrase meaning "thus always to tyrants". It is a shortened version of the phrase Sic semper evello mortem tyrannis ("Thus always I bring death to tyrants").

The tyrant depicted in Virginia's State Seal is King George of Great Britain during America's war of independence.

Here's an interesting article on violence in the US:

The article started out well, but then seemed to forget the caveat it warned about early on: The U.S. classifies "violent crime" more narrowly than the majority of the world - leaving certain categories of assault off the list. Later, the article notes that England's violent crime is double that of the U.S., but I wonder what the ratio would be had the author added in the categories of crime that England considers "violent" but the U.S. doesn't to the U.S. totals?

Thanks, Fadamor. I don't see anything wrong with the seal. It says was what I was brought up to believe. Liberty is worth fighting for.
