Amnesty for illegals. Sure makes all the legal immigrants who jumped through INS hoops, waited forever and paid thousands of dollars to obtain legal status look like idiots.

Went through all sorts of nonsense to get my card. Now the floodgates will be opened. History keeps repeating itself.

If you had to go through great difficulty to obtain your card, why then would you wish others to have to suffer in the same way? Misery loves company?

"The Senate legislation, however, could face long odds in the House of Representatives, which is dominated by conservative Republicans and which has shown little interest in immigration reform."
And many in the House have a long record of pandering to let's just say, people who aren't tolerant of foreigners. Stay tuned for some off-color remarks to make headlines.

Elbuda, I completely agree with you. America became known as the Land of Opportunity BECAUSE immigrants were welcome, few/no restrictions.
" The New Colossus
By Emma Lazarus, 1883
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

So do you support the plan?

What good are laws without enforcement mechanisms? Surely, they knew they were breaking the law by entering my country. If anyone were to enter any other country illegally, would they not be guilty of violating their laws? Without rules to govern behavior -- and to govern society-- nations would cease to be.

The sobering results of the elections are spurring them to act on this.

You're confusing amnesty with citizenship. They're STILL going to have to jump through USCIS (there's no INS anymore) hoops, wait forever, and pay copious amounts of money to become a legal U.S. citizen. So don't get your panties in a bind over this.
