Hasakeh city is now also probably just a pile of rubble full of dead people..... What a totally futile war this is.

This is the very first time I have seen a report that the Kurds have been fighting alongside Assad's troops.

This may be the reason that some Turkish units fired at Syrian Kurd positions a couple of days ago. Turkey does not like the present regime in Syria, nor Kurds of any kind.

Add to this the US bombing of IS in support of the Kurds and Syrian govt troops, and we get a more and more complicated picture.

Seems finally working together

“IS is depending more on children for suicide operations. And we saw the effect of that, since 10 percent of IS members killed in the fight for Hasakeh city were children,” Abdel Rahman said.

That could lead to Hague tribunal

Since then, Abdel Rahman told AFP, “we haven’t seen any major IS victories with the exception of the battle at Palmyra. There has been a continuous retreat for IS forces since February”.

Well, there's Ramadi in Iraq, though they lost Tikrit which is the bigger city.

But yeah, in Syria there's only Palmyra, while losing in other places.

Air strikes by the international coalition fighting IS in Syria and Iraq have also contained the group, he said.

Coalition airstrikes are now attacking defensive barriers around Raqa. Could be precursor to a Kurdish advance, although how would the Kurds feel about occupying lands that are historically Sunni and not Kurdish

Kurds are also Sunnis. I take it you wanted to say "Arab".

Getting bombed by Turkey while fighting ISIS at the same time, the Kurds have their hands full. I may be wrong but the Kurds appear to make the most gains against ISIS than anyone else.
