That can work, as far as it goes. But it is dishearteing to see that Obama at the same time clings to the stupid idea of supporting the "vetted rebels" in Syria. I.e. while he bombs ISIS on one hand, he sends them weapons with the other. Crazy.

The U.S. has been very reluctant on sending weapons; that's why Syrian rebels have been whinging that the U.S. isn't sending them weapons.

ISIS, aka the "vetted rebels", is not suffering from a lack of weapons.

And anybody who claims that there is a mystical firewall between Al Nusra, the Free Syrian Armee, ISIS; and the whole gaggle of other Sunni islamists in Syria, well, I have a bridge in Brookly to sell to you.

Funny how, now there seems to be good news coming out of Kobane (well, 'good' assuming you actually want ISIS to be beaten) the World's media seems to have moved on... A couple of weeks ago, there were thousands of headline-writers wringing their hands about the impending massacre of innocents after the inevitable fall of the town. When it appears that the heroic defenders might have driven out ISIS after killling hundreds of them - near silence.

The YPG said that they would turn Kobane into the graveyard of ISIS and they seem to have done that. Lesson? Faced with determined and organised resistance, ISIS can't necessarily win even when they outnumber and out-gun their opponents. ISIS are beatable, and those who despaired about their despicable crimes against defenceless people should joyously salute the Kurds for proving this to the world.

While Kobane has made Turkey's position blatently clear (and Erdogan must be cursing the Kurds' success), many questions now remain about how serious the USA is about defeating ISIS in the context of the War in Syria and the balance of power in Iraq.

Yes, they're rich. And they're not vetted - they don't need the US' help. Their leader is an ex-US prisoner, hates the US, wouldn't accept help from the US if offered.

They did increase the bombing on ISIS in town despite setting expectations low on Kobani's fate.
