Oh, sad news!! I fondly remember back in the`80s meeting Marc Almond and Jimmy Sommerville every FRiday for a Taco Bell feast. My fav was the yummy bean burrito.

Thanks MR Bell JR, you made some of us happy with your fast food. Wish you were still selling in Blighty.

RIP Mr Bell. I got a chance to meet him a few times to chat as he was a customer at a Rancho Santa Fe bank I was working in back in the early 90s. Thanks for the fast food alternative to burgers.

Taco Bell was good until Yum Brands acquired them.. I miss the old Taco Light and the Bellbeefer. They also destroyed Pizza Hut. KFC is their only edible brand.

But we must not let that overshadow the legacy that Glenn Bell created.

I also miss Rich Snyder, the son of the founder of In-n-Out Burger who was president of the company up until the 90's when he was killed in a plane crash. I actually met Rich Snyder in 1992 at a store opening.

How I long for an In-n-Out in Shibuya! (^u^)

Anything will kill you eventually if you only eat it every day. Obviously its best to diversify your diet. To eat healthy foods. Thats said, sometimes you just need a couple taco supremes and a bean burrito.

The World War II veteran next helped establish Taco Tias in Los Angeles, El Tacos in the Long Beach area, and Der Wienerschnitzel, a national hot dog chain.

Bell launched Taco Bell in 1962 in Downey after cutting ties with his business partners and quickly expanding around Los Angeles.

He sold the first Taco Bell franchise in 1964. In 1978, Bell sold his 868 Taco Bell restaurants to PepsiCo for $125 million in stock.

Taco Bell is now owned by Yum! Brands and is the largest Mexican fast-food chain in the U.S., serving more than 36.8 million consumers each week in more than 5,600 U.S. locations.

Choked on grease. Wat a sad way to die. I heard or actually read that he donated a ton of money to the American Heart Association and to the Fat Bck Society of the Southern States

goddog: Choked on grease. Wat a sad way to die.

Since he lived to be 86, I doubt he actually ate much of his own restaurants food. Would not be surprised if he used his millions to keep a vegan chef employed and lodged at his house, with a clear order of silence in his contract.

And you got to laugh at Der Wienerschnitzel. Is it that hard to find a speaker of German and give your store a grammatically and otherwise correct and yet appealing name? People laugh at Japlish! It may be that Americans invented the murder of language and once again, the Japanese took the concept and perfected it!

Yes - Marc was a huge fan of the stuff. Once he was even rushed to hospital after consuming far too much. He just couldn`t help himself.
