The US invasion had nothing to do with Al-Qaeda or Taliban. It has everything to do with strategic control of oil and gas in Central Asia. Did Americans really think they could invade and control Afghanistan? The Americans are defeated. There is fatigue now. There is no way Americans can hold on to Afghanistan.

This will turn into another Iraq. Thought I was going to say Vietnam, huh? Oh no. We have an even worst fiasco then Vietnam. With the Vietnam War behind us and all the knowledge we gained from it, george bush started a war in Afghanistan and left it to be tended by the Afghanistan warlords. Then over 6 years from when he started it, after he mismanaged it, after he'd wasted valuable resources in Iraq instead of dealing with the known threat he walks out of the White House leaving a real mess.

2009 was when the war started to be managed properly. Barack Obama came into office and ask the generals and civilians to access what we have and then to develop a strategy for fighting this war. General McKrystal and others put a plan together and gave it to Obama.

After several months of war planning Obama gave General McKrystal marching orders. The real unfortunate thing is this war is going to take on the ugly fighting strategy of house to house fighting that we saws in Iraq.

We've still got 10 more years to go, another 10 years in Afghanistan. < :-)

    Damm right!

    The Americans are defeated.

The dead Islamic terrorists littering the ground in Afghanistan dont agree.

There is fatigue now. There is no way Americans can hold on to Afghanistan.

hahaha! America wants Pakistan and Iran. You can have Afghanistan back when were done. Any questions, see Iraq. America has a stranglehold over the Islamic terrorists and is poised to cleanse the region of its nukes and terrorists. We haven't even started...

Strategic control? of oil and gas? in one of the most inaccessible regions in the world?

    Are you for real?

Yes. The Caspian sea has enormous amount of oil and US now wants to control the pipelines which run through the central Asian countries through Afghanistan and Pakistan into the Indian Ocean. Central Asian nations and Iran want to sell more gas and oil. US, Europe, Russia, India, Pakistan and China are anxious to buy more. The only thing holding back the desired transport of gas and oil is the construction of new pipelines. That's what this grand chess game is all about and why U.S. is fighting in the middle of one of the most inaccessible regions in the world while framing it as if they want to spread freedom, 9/11 etc.
