Expect them to use knowledge gained from overrunning air bases in Syria.

Well, in Afghanistan, they don't have the support of Turkey, and even Russia is on NATO's side, so far. NATO in Afghanistan does not feel even a part of nightmare from various Islamist brotherhoods, which it supports against Assad in Syria.

The war with the Taliban, Al-Quiada, Wahabis and the like will not end, even in many more centuries. Anywhere within their reach, they will be killing in the name of Allah. European nations have machine gun toting police all over every big city, and of course American citizens are armed to teeth everywhere. If you allow Islamic immigration, you need to protect yourself.

Why is such a simple insight so hard to adapt for soldiers?

Get out of THEIR country!

volland, yes and no. Afghanistan belongs to the peoples of the land. The Pashtu Taliban come mainly from the southern tribes, so Afghanistan is not THEIR country. Last time they were in power they used ethnic cleansing to enforce their unwanted rule, ie the Taliban were an occupying power using out-of-date and barbaric methods to stay in control.

The majority of ordinary Afghanis actually fear NATO leaving, but this can't be helped as that is just round the corner on the timetable.

"The majority of ordinary Afghanis..." that is nonsense, you are lying. Just by calling the invasion armies criminals and mass murderes one does need to be a supporter of the Taliban!

The point is, that the invasion has brought more suffering, deaths and problems to Afghanistan. Taht is the simple truth, so GET OUT!
