At some point people will have to come up with a reliable way to count people.

What most in the West don't see is that the backbone of the anti-Putin movement isn't the latte drinking, cosmopolitan liberal that is shown on the nightly news and profiled in news magazines. The backbone is the far right: nationalists, neo-patriots and so-called "racists" (who chant "Russia for Russians"). They are the ones who were marching against Putin long before the chess player and his ilk got interested in politics. The liberals begrudgingly acknowledge they need these far rightists. They need their strength, organization and numbers.
The liberal reformers say that they won't let the far right come to power, get control of a successful anti-Putin movement and future government. "We can handle them" is the attitude of the Western-leaning liberals. Somewhere in history we have heard this before, haven't we?

Putin is so hungry for power. Al Capone and all these dictators have their reason (ego) to justify that they are doing the right thing. But I say it is sooner or late, Russia better PUT him IN the jail teaching judo to the criminals. Most know that Russia is such a lawlessness country in spite being a super power of oil and gas. Some pothead liberal including the Beatles tried it with "all we need is love" has not been working so well. Responsibility for humanity will make the world a better place , and am I dreaming or what?

Fight on! I hope this crazy power nut dies the way he's lived. Justice is much needed here for the Russian who have suffered far too much in the past 100 years.

At the very least the steady flow of rallies should provide some kind of check on his power and maybe even some kind of sense that he will be held accountable for his actions. Maybe it won't be a big change but his days of simply uttering anti-West speeches to get him off the hook are coming to an end.

Why is there so much anti Putin posting, likely none of the posters have any knowledge for what Putin stands for in Russia nor do they know the politics in Russia, they only have hearsay "facts" from the press, whoever they may are. Fact is the West is indeed "meddling" in Russia's internal affairs by "assisting" the so called "opposition" no matter how credible they are. Russia will vote and does not need the western press to antagonize them with useles blather.

Putin played his card by running for a third term as President he manipulated the system. The system is corrupt.
At one time Putin was well liked, the country may have gotten better for the upper class but not for the rest.
Thought it was the other way around.

As they say: you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Same in politics: leave early enough to be appreciated, or stay too long that they want to throw you out.

they only have hearsay "facts" from the press, Ah yes, the press. The press that has had many, many killed who dare to write negative things about him. More writers have died under his "ruling" than those during the communist years. We don't need "hearsay" to know he's nothing but a power hungry thug who will stop at no cost to get what he wants - power.
