I don't think I'd be allowed to pick the time that I'd talk if ever to state troopers if I wrecked my car. I think they'd have me in the station under lights.

Must be nice to be Tiger Woods in so many ways. < :-)

adaydream: or Police is also afraid of Tiger's wife :)

If the accident occured within the gates of a private community, what jurisdiction if any does law enforcement have? No one else was injured. It was stated that Tiger has no legal obligation to grant an interview. Even if he was drinking, they can never give him a DUI. A BAC is needed for that.

When I was in a car accident here in Japan, the police asked me when I could come to the koban to explain what happened. They asked the other driver the same thing and the three of us - cops, her, and I, - decided when would be good. I think if I called to say I couldn't make it for whatever reason, we'd probably reschedule it.

ElJeffeEnJapon, no matter if it is on private property, if a crime is committed law enforcement has jurisdiction. Just from watching too many episodes of COPS, I have learned that FL is one of those states where if there is suspected domestic violence (as it is beginning to look like), I believe that one of the parties must go to jail if there is evidence that some form of violence (marks, scratches) has been delievered. I could be wrong on that.

Best thing for Tiger to do is come clean, make a statement, and then move on. I am sure some of the top notch divorce lawyers are ready at the wings to handle this one.

If the accident occured within the gates of a private community, what jurisdiction if any does law enforcement have?" Oh, I really didn't know that.

"It was stated that Tiger has no legal obligation to grant an interview.' do we all get that, or does Tiger's fame help in this case (or work against him)?

And i thought it was a private matter? Where was he going at that hour? Simply who cares...not my business nor anyones business. Let them sort it out themselves instead of in the spot light of people who are too busy to get on with their own miserable lives.

Somebody called 9/11. The police are investigating. Interviews will be scheduled.

But if somebody had quickly filed charges against Woods concerning the accident on their property, the police would have been a lot less nice and probably offered Woods the choice of volunarily coming in for questioning NOW or get arrested.

Too late now. The heat of the moment is gone. Everything will proceed at a snail's pace now. They will putter around. Par for the course.

    Anyway, nice bogey Mr. Woods.

Naturally the Florida police have the legal right to interview a person if a crime was committed. However in this case the police don't have any proof a crime occured, just an accident, so they cannot force Tiger to meet with them. It becomes voluntary. That loophole gave Tiger time to stall and work hard on this first public speech, which was worded so very nicely.

I just want to know if his head wound looked matched that of a five iron.

He's the world's best golfer! He shouldn't have to play the same hole over and over for the rest of his life, dammit!

I am so glad he's doing this. Serves the media right. Hear he's now going to sue the Enquirer.. glad. But, we hear that this may have something to do with an affair. Again, I stand my ground, did you see that girl? You'd be stupid not to hit it even if you were married. But, its still no one's business, but our envy.

    dammit

Sounds like some of the media are trying to imply he was out sha**ing the other woman, and upon his return the wife smashed in the window thereby causing him to crash.

Interesting movie outline, and sure to get the gossips going, but it's between him and his wife. If neither of them feels there's a need to report something to the cops then we'll just have to accept that maybe it's the truth. Maybe he took his eyes off the road to switch off a cd or something. That's enough to cause an accident. At least no-one's dead or injured.

But how bizarre that the driver of the only car in a one-vehicle accident doesn't have to make a statement to the cops. Bizarre indeed.

LOL - took longer than I thought!

Think the wife was "liquored" up more like it,since the cops SAID alcohol was not involved on his side anyway.

I don't care about the family problems. But I do care whether Tiger stays away from the state troops.

I don't keep up with golf or many sports really, but Tiger Woods is and has been a great example for young adults and even adults. This hiatus doesn't do anything good except say, "I'm above everything and everybody." < :-)

Doesn't seem like any crime took place, just a single-car accident, so the police don't have much of a case. It's also not required in Florida for Woods to talk in this case; everyone in America has the right to remain silent anyways.

Tiger doesn't have a legal problem; he has a PR problem.
