They ought to control their tempers. The 2012 mud-slinging/character assassination/scream-fest will no doubt reach new heights of stupidity.
America's two-party system has done the distance.

I'll believe it once they chop $500 billion from proposed 2012 Pentagon spending to bring it back to its - already wildly inflated - 2008 levels. The way the US is throwing money at wars, it'd be cheaper to just drop bails of bills on terrorists from helicopters.

Considering Obama is proposing a 1.7 TRILLION dollar deficit, both parties' proposals are ludicrous. The only answers lie in cutting defence, and also in cutting so-called entitlement programmes. Also, shutting down useless agencies like the Dept of Education.
There isnt a revenue problem, but a spending problem.

Agreed. And how is a 60 billion dollar cut extreme? If they multiply that amount by 20, then, they will be at the place where they can start talking. 60 billion is a joke. Its a nice start. But if thats all they're talking about cutting this year, then shutting down the government really is, looking like a better choice. At least that way they'll stop spending money they don't have.
