England - and by extension Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Australia and Canada - clearly want war:

'*"Jacqui Smith’s stark estimate came as she argues for an extension of the time authorities are allowed to hold terror suspects without charge.

“We now face a threat level that is severe. It’s not getting any less, it’s actually growing,” Smith wrote the editorial to be printed in The News of The World tabloid. “There are 22,000 individuals (police and security agencies) are monitoring. There are 200 networks. There are 30 active plots.”*'

I really feel sorry for people in those countries.

If I was living in the UK, I would find the level of vigilance reassuring, rather than the opposite.

As anyone knows, Governments are happy to have such bogey-men - real or imagined - as it gives them more opportunity to interfere with the rights of citizens, and more power over them. See the USA for an even more obvious example of this.

Funny thing is how consistently people who claim to love freedom so much are happy to have their rights taken away, by proven liars...

22, 000 suspected terrorists in the UK?

What did the gov't do to create such numbers?

Or is it the well-known racism in England that breeds such violent resistance and dissatisfaction?

redacted - stop playing devil's advocate. We know you love the mother country, really. Racism? About as well-known in 'England' (the UK, you mean) as most other parts of Europe and the U.S. In fact, probably the opposite - Britain's long liberal tradition, and historic links to Pakistan, are the reason that we have a few home-grown nutters, a bit like Tim McVeigh but less deadly, if you like.

Britain's tolerant and liberal society has its price, but to most Britons - whatever their colour or religion - vigilance against terrorists is a price worth paying for it.

22, 000 suspected terrorists or supporters.

So, uh, I guess it would be silly of me to ask - is England still "a nation of shopkeepers"?

redacted - you are repeating yourself. It is starting to sound like some sort of chant

Ah, the tiny, tiny minority of the misunderstanders of the religion of peace. How lucky that we dont have to worry about it, since they are such a small minority... isnt that what we are always told?
