This is part of the Democrat Party's plan. The far Left groups that high jacked the party want to blunt and eventually eliminate private charity, which they regard as a force that counters their vote-buying schemes.

@TimRussert- please explain exactly how "far left groups" are able to reduce the amount of money people give to charity.

Conservatives (in America, I don't know about Canada or Australia) donate more to charity than do 'Liberals'. This fact is well-known. Religious folk tend to give more across the board. This really shouldn't surprise anyone. Recall the paltry percentage of income it was revealed Gore and Kerry donate to charity, and compare that with the whopping 75 percent of personal income the Cheney's donate to charities some years. In 2005 they gave away $6,869,655.

Leave it to you to turn a post about the decline in charitable donations to some evil elite-Lefty-socialist-cheerleader Democratic scheme. Bwa hahaha!!
Seriously, I'm with Sushi... do you just make this stuff up?
If you expected it would be any different with a Republican in office you're sillier than I thought; once the economy busted in 2008 (under the former president, since you're intent on making this political), donations were inevitably going to be less.

Who will pick up the slack, I wonder. We read that the economies of Australia and Canada are doing relatively well, since Leftist pols there did not force banks to lend to unqualified borrowers, in the silly name of 'equality.' But Americans are far and away the most generous people on this planet. Gonna be some big shoes to fill.

Leftist pols forcing banks to lend? Lol. Is that what happened? You do know this just happened a few years ago right? Everything that went down was very well documented... The causes are well understood. The fixes less so...
