They have to work this out and we should be bringing our troops home from Korea. There is absolutely no reason that we should be tieing up 35,000 American troops in Korea over 50 years.

By the way, John McCain would do the same thing in Iraq for 100 years, if he can't find somebody to declare victory to. < :-)

Typical north response. "It's your fault that our soldier shot your citizen." But I guess I would use the same logic if I were a xenophobe.

It is a wonder why she was past the "fenced off" area. Is there just a gate that people can get through? Wouldn't there be north guards at the gate? Or did this 52 year old woman pole vault over the fence?

Pyongyang also refused to accept any more South Korean tourists

OMG. What South Korean citizen in their right mind would want to tour NK after this?

Pyongyang also refused to accept any more South Korean tourists until an apology was received...

great, there go my tickets to "Universal Studios - Pyong Yang". do you have any idea how long you have to wait for those?

It is dumb to place a high interest tourist spot next to a highly sensitive military site. It was dumber for the woman to go out before the crack of dawn and take a stroll anywhere in N.K.

Dumb describes the facts as told, but was the woman really a "tourist". I mean if we assume she had some commonsense, then perhaps she had reason to be there and that the soldier actually shot a spy.

NK:it is all your fault. SK:no, it is all your fault.you are too brutal. NK: nonsense, apologise now or else. SK:let me have an investigation to clarify the matter for the sake of justice. NK:NO need for justice,no investigation,no thing, its all your fault, apologise now.We, NK need food aid, fuel not justice.Teach your citizens manners when dealing with us!

My guess is that the lady was in a controlled area, but that the North Koreans probably acted aggressively. But it's not like either side is really going to care what I think.

Gee, I sure didn't see the words McCain or Iraq mentioned even once in this article, as lengthy as it is. Did you? Talk about obsession...

daydream's off-topic rants about Bush/McCain/Iraq are allowed on Japan Today. The MODs make an exception for him.
