If a vessel is even slightly listing, chances are you are in irreversible, deep trouble.

Get the passengers out in an orderly fashion. They should be given life jackets etc but don't wear them until they are outside. Never make a "big jump" while wearing one.

The fact that the captain and his crew were the first to abandon ship (he lied and said he was a passenger) needs to be more widely spread. In my opinion, him and his crew are the direct cause of all the dead passengers. He deserves to get weekly visits by the family of each of the victims for the rest of his life while he rots in prison

It sounds as if there are 100 contributing factors for this terrible tragedy, but no one factor on its own would have been enough to cause it.

The Swiss Cheese model of accident causation at work again?

Did anyone else see all the life boats on this ship that went un used ?

Instead of this lot banging on about yasukuni shrine they should be spending their time deeply looking inward and reflecting on the past weeks events.

With deep condolence to all friends and families who lost their love ones in this accident. It seemed many missteps took places, otherwise many lives could be saved. There are plenty lessons to be learned of Korea through this tragedy,

In my opinion, him and his crew are the direct cause of all the dead passengers.

Legally and realistically, inescapable conclusion. The owners of the company are at blame too.

Is this not the first time a so called captain has jumped ship at the first sign of a bit of trouble, I was on the understanding that the captain should be the LAST one off, the words that spring to my mind are “dereliction of duty” “ incompetence” “neglect” and finely “spineless”. I am no expert but why on gods’ planet why would you tell every body to stop in their cabins when the ship is starting to list to one side? If you need to abandon ship, it would be common sense to have every body at the muster stations ready to get on a lifeboat quickly and safely. Either way this is a tragic loss of life that could have been obverted. My heart felt condolences to the families that have lost there loved ones. As for the so called captain, well hang your head in shame !!

I as I tried to understand this tragedy I have come to my own conclusion. The Captain was damned if he did order the students in high current and freezing water and he was damned if he didn't and tried to wait things out. The more to why this ship turned over and "IF" the Koreans do a good job in investigating the true cause we might find out. All I am reading now is the President Blaming the Captain when she refused help from Japan to assist.
