Chuck was one of my all time favorites. Not only in the old 50s/60s
classics but in Planet of the Apes and he was "The" original Omega Man, way before Will Smith. Perhaps his famous line "Let my people go!" is rather appropriate for the Tibet issue now going on. Hats off to a great actor and screen legend.
Heston was a fine actor, but he sold his decades of hard-earned cred to a confrontational, divisive, nutbag organization. The Charlton Heston I respect exists only on DVDs.
I agree that the NRA certainly can be decribed as a confrontational, divisive, nutbag organization. But I can say the very same thing for
the emotionally charged other side. I don't recall Heston being anything more than a celebrity face for the NRA and the most coverage he got in this role was in Bowling for Comumbine. Naa, I'll always remember him as the actor. Let him RIP.
