I wonder how long it will take for Syrian government to try and blame all of this unrest on Alqaeda or Israel or the USA or Iran?

"The regime of President Bashar Assad, an ally of Iran"
Of course it is.
I hope Assad is deposed and a decent government takes power in Syria.

It was only a matter of time.
Assad had better watch out, lest he end up with his own "no-fly zone".

@Triumvere, Syria has oil?

Nope. But the US sure does hate Assad, and would be more than happy to lend a helping hand in pushing him out the door.

Actually, Assad probably has nothing to worry about, unless enough of his supporters turn against him.
Between Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and everything else, the U.S. is not going to get involved militarily in Syria.

Agreed, to busy trying to make sure France can get oil from Libya right now, that "supporter" of the U.S during removing Saddam from the scene.

That could happen quicker than you think. He's not exactly popular.

The US has wanted Ghadafi out for decades now. Plus, supporting the rebels helps keep the "Arab Spring" movement alive in the region - were it has the potential to destabalize long-time enemies like Iran and, yes, Syria. You really think oil is the US's primary concern here?

Heh, talk about a "dumbed-down" version. Geo-politik with pop-up pictures.

Not just the US, Triumvere.
And now the Yemeni President is about to take the back door exit....that, however, would seem more troubling for the so-called war on terror...

No, certainly not, Madverts. And, I might add, not without reason either.

Agreed there! I just hope it's relatively bloodless.
