opponents of presumptive U.S. presidential nominee Donald Trump stormed out of the room and others chanted in protest at their failure to win a symbolic vote opposing his candidacy

That sounds like fascism.

The RNC won't allow a "symbolic" vote?

Trump is clearly dictating the playbook, 'No Dissent' and the RNC is handing it to Trump.

Republican convention in turmoil as Trump foes revolt

but...

Party leaders held a voice vote, then declared the opponents lacked enough votes.

I guess it was a short-lived turmoil.

By 9am, trump's man Paul Manafort was already attacking Ohio Governor John Kasich for not attending, because who builds party unity better than a vindictive narcissist who has bullied and threatened his way through life?

good to see Donald "bringing everyone together".... just imagine what he will do for the country.... fun times ahead

"Trump has sought to position himself as the law-and-order candidate in an echo of Richard Nixon’s successful presidential campaign of 1968."

“This is really appalling,” Ken Cuccinelli, a delegate from Virginia who favored a roll-call vote, told MSNBC afterward. “This is the party of law and order. ... If you won’t obey your own rules, there is no reason to think you’ll obey any others.”

Well, a Nixon comparison shows where Trump's delusions lead and a Virginia GOP Delegate nails the lid down; "If you won’t obey your own rules, there is no reason to think you’ll obey any others."

'If you won’t obey your own rules, there is no reason to think you’ll obey any others' should have been the Trump+P slogan all along. Or 'another bigot for god', either way.

worried about Trump’s temperament and policies,

His bad temper is well known and worrisome, except to his true believers who think juvenile tantrums are a sign of strength. What policies? I've heard him repeatedly say he'll build a wall and that he wants to make it even easier for the gun industries to sell weapons, but who knows what he really believes on anything else. His flip-floppedness is shown in this video.

If all you've got in response is whatabouthillaryobama, then you're helping me make my point.

His bad temper is well known and worrisome, except to his true believers who think juvenile tantrums are a sign of strength. What policies?

Whoa!!! Hold on! I know you are not implying that Hillary is a calm and rational person, right? Also, what are Hillary's policies, especially when it comes to creating jobs and immigration? She already said, she would let in about 760,000 over the next couple of years and of course, she won't shut down the border as well. Are those her policies?

I've heard him repeatedly say he'll build a wall and that he wants to make it even easier for the gun industries to sell weapons,

Meaning making sure the Democrats don't go around the 2nd amendment by trying to penalize the gun sellers and dealers.

but who knows what he really believes on anything else. His flip-flippedness is shown in this video.

Let me know when you want me to show Hillary's laundry lists of flip flops, got 'em all here.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

At least Hillary didn't want to build a wall. She wanted to build a fence. Until of course she didn't.

"The turmoil threatened efforts by the Trump campaign to show the party had united behind the businessman-turned-politician and distracted from the day’s theme of “Make America Safe Again,” meant to depict Trump as a strong leader capable of shielding the country from violence and Islamist militancy." - article

"Trump’s son and adviser, Donald Trump Jr, threatened the leaders of the attempted revolt, saying: “Your careers are finished” in a message posted on Twitter." - article

What a masterpiece. What precision.

These two quotes: 'depict Trump as a strong leader capable of shielding the country from violence and Islamist militancy' and 'Trump’s son and adviser, Donald Trump Jr, threatened the leaders'

Both a demagogue, 'The Trump Delusion', controlling the actions of others and Trump served by his self named son who threatens people.

The whole thing is Italian Opera. What next? Trump descends on gold wings from the rafters of the Q? This will make some great TV show one day.

@PTownsend

You are most certainly welcome. Just want to remind you guys when you mock Trump on his faults and fallacies, let's have a real coming out party and talk about both candidates and so that we can all see their strengths and weaknesses. I'm glad we both agree.

But like I said, Trump has a temper problem, we all know that, but Hillary is just as bad, in fact, probably nastier, the difference is, she does it behind closed doors, sneaky as expected.

Trump has a temper problem, we all know that, but Hillary is just as bad, in fact, probably nastier, the difference is, she does it behind closed doors, sneaky as expected.

Any proof? Thought so.

In any case, having temper tantrums in public is not exactly the kind of behavior befitting president of the US. Unless, like you said, you want a loose canon as president.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

You are most certainly welcome. Just want to remind you guys when you mock Trump on his faults and fallacies, let's have a real coming out party and talk about both candidates and so that we can all see their strengths and weaknesses.

Hillary's faults:

-- she's a woman, so the Republicans hate her. More than even Obama it's starting to appear.

-- she's strong. Republicans think that a weak person needs to be in office, as they cannot tolerate the fact that she is strong.

-- she's not guilty of Benghazi or email violations. Republicans hate her for not living up to the lies they have told about her.

She's full of faults.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

The response Trump elicits from liberals can only be described as Pavlovian. It's quite interesting to witness.

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

"Divided again?" You know for the first elected Black President, he won't be remembered for being a unifier, that's already been pretty much established.

My bet: Clinton's gonna beat the living crap outta Trump. Better than Obama destroyed McCain and Caribou BArbie in both the electoral and the total vote.

Hmmm...the funny thing about that bet is, you might be right if Hillary had a huge lead over Trump, but in almost every poll, they are even, now if you are a Democratic strategist, that's a very bad thing, very bad, you want a clear front lead of over 10-20 points. This is not McCain or Romney, times are different, we have a lot going on, people are teed off at Washington, teed off that Hillary got a free pass despite that 5 other people that did a similar thing are sitting in prison and then there is the war and foreign policy, so it's going to be close, but Hillary outright beating Trump.....not so sure. Be careful what you wish for. LOL

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Any proof? Thought so.

Yep. No proof. No evidence. Nothing.

The right has nothing against HRC. The only thing their obscene and irrational hatred of HRC demonstrates is their complete divorce from reality. Or, as another recently put it:

"The existential need for conservatives to portray Obama and Clinton -- who really are just a standard middle-of-the-road Democrats -- as an alien and some sort of criminal master-mind, simply shows how far out in right field they have become.

Moreover, the Republican Party must be destroyed/

8 ( +9 / -1 )

You know for the first elected Black President, he won't be remembered for being a unifier,

"Due to being the first black president, the republicans have done their best for ensuring they won't let themselves be unified by him"

^Fixed your statement for accuracy.

The keynote speaker tonight. Interesting interview on strategy fighting ISIS + dealing with Trump. Although he is very close to Russian intelligence now so I take it all, especially the over-demonization of Iran, with a large grain of salt.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Melania Trump — wife of presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump — will make her Republican National Convention debut on Monday.

Unclear what Melania Trump knows of strategy fighting ISIS + dealing with Trump. How pathetic. Like some dunce ballyhooing "My wife's real pretty'. Is there a 'tragic clown' too? Some bozo is claiming Trump can "Fix This".

@KabukiGuns The response Trump elicits from liberals can only be described as Pavlovian.

Thank you for once again displaying a reactionary's reaction.

@Bass4 but Hillary is just as bad,

Thank you for once again displaying a reactionary's reaction.

It's concerning that Trump's truest believers have nothing positive to say about their Messiah and can only do whatabouts in response.

Has the Duck Dynasty guy spoken yet? Or how about Scott Baio? I'm sure governments around the world will be interested in what they are saying.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Heh, looks like the most votes still wins. Until November when Hillary squeaks out the Electoral College vote with the help of permanent Democrat California. But wait, Trump's already ahead in former Democrat states Pennsyvania, Florida... oh my...

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Kudos to the reality oriented fringe of the GOP stayng in their home states far from Cleveland. John McCain is hiking in the Grand Canyon, and there is the Montana senator who saw this as his chance to go flyfishing.

Just need more of these fine people to realize what a wretched choice Trump is. You want a uniter? Is that what Trump thinks he is when he blames without proof the Baton Rouge police killings on radical Islam? Uniting the clueless with the deluded, it would seem.

Who needs 'em?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I believe "Who need 'em?" is the standard phrase for blacks and Latinos in the GOP, not for former Presidents.

Yeah, who needs politicians with decades of experience like Mike Pence. Even Sarah Palin with her two years total in office is looking suspect.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Thank you for once again displaying a reactionary's reaction.

And again, always happy to bring sweetness and sunshine to an honest discussion, but you are most certainly welcome, keeping it real, dude.

It's concerning that Trump's truest believers have nothing positive to say about their Messiah and can only do whatabouts in response.

What about the Hillarybots that no matter what befalls her, even if she kills someone, they'll always be loyal. Care to comment on that? Inquiring minds want to know.

Has the Duck Dynasty guy spoken yet? Or how about Scott Baio? I'm sure governments around the world will be interested in what they are saying.

I don't think they give one darn if the world cares or not and kudos to them for that.

Superlib, the scientists at Hoover are scratching their heads at how to replicate such a huge vacuum.

Keep on believing that, Super.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

and kudos to them for that.

Well I'm sure it energized the white trash, but I'm surprised they would open with such honesty.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Wow, look at the Republicans and GOP supporters on this page panicking! There isn't ONE comment -- not one -- that isn't "whatabouhillaryobama?" Most can't even address the thread, which is about the GOP crashing their own party, and failing in their own revolt.

This is TOO funny!

(I know, I know... "but whatabouthillary?", right?)

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

You want a uniter? Is that what Trump thinks he is when he blames without proof the Baton Rouge police killings on radical Islam?

The right-wingers would rather a president prematurely attack radical Islam before the facts are in, rather than... well rather than act presidential and reserve judgement until the facts are known.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Well I'm sure it energized the white trash, but I'm surprised they would open with such honesty.

"White trash?" Hmmm....if a conservative would say, the libs are energizing their Black, Latino or gay trash, that would be considered highly racist, wouldn't it? But liberals want and believe in fairness, right? Or should we call it double standard if we say the same thing? Careful before answering...

@smith

Question, what do you want Trump supporters to say? We already knew this was going to happen. Please don't tell me you're actually shocked at this? Establishment conservatives are prolonging the inevitable. Trump is going to be the nominee and that's it, unless they establishment wants to usurp the process and tee off the voters. I'm just looking forward to Philly and watch the 40% Bernie Bros that say, the will not under any circumstance vote or support Hillary. Lol Should be equally entertaining to watch.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Trump's foreign policy is just a massive fear of the rest of the world. To any kind of foreign threat, his response is just to wall off the U.S. literally and figuratively. He does believe you can use the threat of U.S. economic power to somehow rewrite the rules. It combines militarism with isolationism.”It's a very zero-sum idea of what is best for America, that enemies should be attacked ferociously but with no real interest in the context which the enemies arises and no interest in trying to shape the societies. The mentality that U.S. is getting screwed by trading partners and need to be tougher on them.

That’s how Mussolini got in, that's how Hitler got in, they took advantage of a situation, a problem perhaps, which humanity was going through at the time, after an economic crisis. Trump's rejection of military intervention in pursuit of democratization in Libya and Syria also puts him crosswise with many neoconservative policy advisers. His emphatic opposition to the Iran nuclear deal demonstrates a deep skepticism of diplomacy, unlike former secretary of state Clinton, who puts a premium on “soft power,” or coercive diplomacy.

Trump could try to make the case that Hillary Clinton is more hawkish and war prone than Trump would be. But it's going to be very easy for Clinton to push back on that. Clinton could paint him as dangerous by pointing to rhetoric suggesting he's willing to bomb terrorists' families or let Japan and South Korea build nuclear weapons. If Clinton was smart, she would also paint Trump as someone who is so short-tempered and sensitive that you don’t know what he'll do, someone who'll fly off the handle.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Very amusing. These are Repubs, they should learn their place and be respectful to their chosen candidate. Those nails sticking out should be smashed and ground to dust as they are surely not Repubs

First Lady Milania! Very well done. Oh, a few months premature.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Bass4funk: "Question, what do you want Trump supporters to say? We already knew this was going to happen."

That you'll suddenly evolve and ACTUALLY try to change the party for the good of everyone instead of devolving into the rich old white guy party. Honestly, how many elections and "we need to change our image to appeal to a broader group" does it take for you guys to learn? And by change, I mean for the better -- not a Trump change.

Do love the new Trump-Pence motto, though: "make penetration great again", especially with the logo that accompanies it.

"I'm just looking forward to th 40% that will not support Hillary..."

You do know that many Republicans have resigned themselves to supporting her instead of Trump, right? This is more proof. All of these walkouts will vote Hillary now just to keep their jobs. Many more will jump ship soon as well.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I'm watching a military bonehead winding up the yokels on CNN at the moment with erotic appeals to blowing the crap out of pretty much everyone.

I pity the guy who has to mop the slobber off the floor. It's like an audience of St. Bernards.

Please thrash this nonsense in November.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

His wife outdid everyone in her slightly foreign accented speech, Audiences loves her speech Unlike Pence, she was not reading script.

No healthcare plan for 6 years despite a dozen promises? Well, read this story about Hillary and forget all about it. I'm pretty sure that's how the GOP works these days. By turning the base into attack dogs they don't really have anyone holding them accountable for policy anymore which is why the GOP doesn't produce policy anymore.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

uperLib JUL. 19, 2016 - 01:14PM JST No healthcare plan for 6 years despite a dozen promises?

But the biggest problem is not unfairness. It is the real impact these differential subsidies will have on the economy. As businesses discover that almost everyone who earns less than the average wage gets a better deal from the federal government in the exchange from Medicaid and most people who earn more than the average wage get better deal if insurance is provided at work, they will change their employee benefits radically and maybe even restructure the organization of entire firms.

There is a straightforward solution that is to make the tax subsidy for health insurance the same regardless of where people get their health insurance. It would be even better if we let people use their tax credit to buy into Medicaid and let people on Medicaid leave and claim the tax credit to buy private insurance instead. At a minimum, this would free up the job market from the arbitrary burdens of health reform.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Any takers?

You still have not acknowledged to me that the bet is on, or maybe you have and I missed it. Not sure. So, here's another chance, take the bet or drop it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

First I must acknowledge that this article is liberal oriented and definitely "politically correct."

Next... the simple report is that the convention was held in the manner with rules, policies and procedures as it was originally planned and was accepted by the candidates and the various state representatives. Which is, if one is logical, rational and reasonable would agree that it was proper.

It was not a "crushing" action as much as a "preventative move" to stop any changes to those rules at the "whim" of the RNC and special interest groups when its members and the public (new members) through their "votes" chose the candidate based upon the rules which existed at the time of the primaries.

The issue is with the convention and the system set up by the Republican Party for its primaries and the candidate selection process.

I would like to hear more about how the system can be improved and much more honest and honorable for the voters and the candidates, designed to serve the nation rather than the political party and their established leaders.

Any good proposals for the system we have both Republican and Democratic parties?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Hillary's faults: -- she's a woman, so the Republicans hate her. More than even Obama it's starting to appear.

--Conservatives would have no problem being governed by a woman, but Hillary is no Margaret Thatcher.

-- she's strong. Republicans think that a weak person needs to be in office, as they cannot tolerate the fact that she is strong.

--She's not strong, she's ambitious. There's a distinct difference.

-- she's not guilty of Benghazi or email violations. Republicans hate her for not living up to the lies they have told about her. She's full of faults.

--Correct, according to the FBI she is not a criminal, she's merely incompetent.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Yup. The FBI let het go. All Clintons get special dispensation. How convenient.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Hi-LIAR-Y or Trump the US will go to the dumps!! Doesn't matter a liar and a joker both playing poker face to the American people!!
