The Republican Party has long wrestled with the public perception that it is waging a “war on women” and has struggled to convince more women that it’s on their side.

Yep. And right now Trump is the GOPs #1 candidate.

Let's just sit back and watch him implode ! Like I said before, he is the Mitt Rmoney of the 2016 campaign ! Open mouth, insert foot ! He is a buffoon !

Trump will never win miss congeniality but he has broken through the politically correct brain-death politicians have had everyone in the last few decades. If women like Meghan Kelly can't cut it without whining they should pick a different field. The Fox panel was a disgrace in the debates. If anyone ever went after a candidate with intention to do harm, it was the Fox panel going after Donald Trump. Not only were the questions from Kelly very personal, insulting and meant to embarrass, (and completely off any subject pertinent to anything about which the debate was about) they obviously were asked to help assure Trump would not do well in the debate. And most other queries were in a like manner. One question was asked and answered but the moderator wouldn't accept Trumps answer but kept insisting Trump 'say what I want to hear'...so to speak. Meghan Kelley was the worse. It appeared to be a personal thing with her against Donald Trump. At some point in the past, did she come on to Donald Trump and was she was rejected by him? That would explain her attitude and obvious intense dislike of him. Stranger things have happened.

"A tense exchange found her pressing Trump on his history of calling “women you don’t like ‘fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,’”

Maybe Trump should have responded more like this:

"Ms. Kelly, why don't you ask me a question that is relevant to the problems our country faces instead of digging up dirt?"

Obviously, Donald Trump has picked on the wrong woman this time!

"I’ve been very nice to you although I could probably maybe not be, based on the way you have treated me." - “Her whole questioning was extremely unfair to me,” Trump replied - article

Sideshow Bob has company, Sideshow Donald Trump.

Like the carnival barker, or village idiot, Trump is reeling in the GOP-Tea lunatics with his scat jazz politics. At leaste he knows his script. 1) Say some outrageous defilement. 2) Blame the target of his venom. 3) Remind everyone how rich he is. Wash, Rinse, and Repeat the hair brained pabulum the GOP-Tea faithful are already known for.

For a guy who wanted to sleep with his own daughter, ("he would date his own daughter, a former teen model who was then 24 - article") it's easy to see the appeal to the inbred crowd in the GOP-Tea who have the same standards as 'The Donald'.

Maybe this is why they love him so much: just another wealthy defiler of Lady Liberty, or at least any lady he detests and that seems like all of them, just like the GOP-Tea.

Donald is the biggest sugar daddy of all time...... I support your campaign to white house, Donald is sinking the morale level to a new LOW!

I watched only part of the "debate", but it was enough to notice that it was a complete hatchet job on Trump. Trump maybe a buffoon, but this interrogation was ridiculous. To watch this Kelly woman alternating between swooning all over Jeb Bush and then turning around to snarling at Trump was something to behold. The psychological subcontext was so obvious: "Whoha, the pretty woman hates Trump, there must be something wrong with him.".

This was not a debate, this was the Spanish inquisition interrogating Trump. Some big money sponsors must have decided that this guy must be shut up, no matter what.

The great thing is that even after it all, Republicans showed they still love Trump!

"whoha, the pretty woman hates Trump...."

Surely we all hate Trump, pretty or not?

I'm loving Trump right now :)

Don't know why people are giving you thumbs down, WilliB - what you said happened clearly happened. The advantages Trump gave to the GOP establishment have clearly by this point turned to negatives, with only two questions remaining: how they will dispose of him, and whether certain circles in the GOP will allow that to happen.

As Trump would say, it ain't over until the fat pig, dog, slob and disgusting animal sings.

Strangerland:

Where did you get that idea from? Aren´t you always accusing Fox News as being republican? Whell they certainly don´t love him.

Maybe should go easy on the grand generalizations. Perhaps you meant "the Republican political establishment"?

I'm fairly certain Trump is trolling the GOP. He clearly doesn't actually care about winning, he cares about pushing buttons and getting other people riled up.

The question is what the outcome of this will be. Gynephobic harassment of Kelly drastically increased after Trump's Twitter tantrum.

http://www.vox.com/2015/8/8/9120545/donald-trump-megyn-kelly-sexist

These aren't measured, rational people criticizing her debate behavior. This data only tracks attacks keyed to sexist words. And that's scary. We live in a world where there are a great deal of unhappy men blaming their unhappiness on women and who are willing to stalk, threaten, and even murder when confronted with women who speak their opinions and don't kowtow to men simply because they are men. Mostly they keep to their MGTOW message boards and post threatening anonymous Tweets, but what happens if Trump riles up a nutjob enough that he feels like they need to take matters into their own hands? If Trump loses his election bid he can always go back to sleeping in giant piles of money with his imported supermodel wives in high security Manhattan apartments. But the rest of us have to deal with his supporters. And the number of supporters who like him not because he "tells it like it is", but because he gives them an innocent target to direct their rage at is quite alarming.

The whole televised debate was a trap to ensnare Trump and the public would have been hugely disappointed if he hadn't stumbled, fumbled and dropped the ball.

I am not sure he did. Sure, he did not have the polished, bland talking points of the professional politicians, but seeing him trapped like this makes me sympathize with the underdog. Surely I am not alone there. The way this "debate" was rigged was completely disgusting.

Theoretically, if Trump did drop out, where would his xenophobic followers go? My guess is Walker.

So the birther tantrum didn't bother the GOP, but insulting Kelly is the red line?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Yep. And right now Trump is the GOPs #1 candidate.

For the whole 24% of the conservative electorate. I would tend to agree.

Sideshow Bob has company, Sideshow Donald Trump.

If he is the nominee and Clinton is the nominee, it'll be the craziest clowns to ever walk the stage.

Like the carnival barker, or village idiot, Trump is reeling in the GOP-Tea lunatics with his scat jazz politics. No, just Trump. He's the only person that has made politics a laughing joke. But the Dems have Hillary and Sanders doing their own version of Cirque Du Soleil.

For a guy who wanted to sleep with his own daughter, ("he would date his own daughter, a former teen model who was then 24 - article") it's easy to see the appeal to the inbred crowd in the GOP-Tea who have the same standards as 'The Donald'.

I think what Trump was trying to say, though crude, he's proud of his daughter. I wouldn't have chosen those words, but Trump knows how to embellish a sentence.

Maybe this is why they love him so much: just another wealthy defiler of Lady Liberty, or at least any lady he detests and that seems like all of them, just like the GOP-Tea.

No, just the 24% of voters love him.

I have to disagree with you. As much as I don't like Trump, I do think Kelly was more than far. Trump (as expected) had more airtime by an average of 11 minutes, Bush 8 minutes and the rest 6 minutes. What was wrong with asking Trump if he will leave the GOP and go independent? He said, he couldn't make that promise. Pissed off a lot of people with that answer and her asking that question was a legitimate one.

She asked him about his vulgar mouth towards women and if he called them names or saying a women looks good on her knees. He got testy and angered and threw his frustrations out on Kelly.

I'll tell you this, if Trump can't answer any of these questions or won't and if he does become the nominee and goes up against a career politician like Hillary, what do you think they will do to Trump? As much as I dislike Hillary, Trump can't handle Hillary. He's way over his head, she'll destroy him and most definetly use the questions and then some that Kelly asked. And if Trump gets angry or gets bullish in a debate with Hillary, he has virtually NO chance, because the Dems NOW know how to get to Trump, he showed his cards, they know he's short-tempered and they will use that, he showed a hand.

So yes, I think the Mods were fair to Trump, but also take into consideration you had 10 people on stage, there is NO way you can have a Romney/Obama style debate, you need to be on point and asked them tough questions and they may not be what many like, but in a general election against the rival candidate with about a minute, you need to go all out and as the pool shrinks and the candidates get longer time, you can be a bit more flexible.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

No, just the 24% of voters love him.

A few fewer like the rest.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump still leads the pack!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I am not a fan of Trump, but the moderator decided to go on the attack by trolling through Trump's past to come up with some quotes taken out of context. And it was most certainly an attack question. So, if you are going to go on the attack and get down and personal, you better be prepared for return fire.

Besides, the moderator is no innocent wallflower. Exhibit 1, particularly interesting from the 7:00 mark:

Just saying, that's all.

The only "backlash" he got was from FOX and Megyn Kelly herself. Trump's no Prince Charming.... and he's not a Politician, but its nice to hear someone not back down and its nice to hear someone speak candidly.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Donald Trump is coward and bully guy. His money make him idiot. He insults everyone. If you look back his insulting history and then you can be found utterly ugly insulting to women his dislike. I don't know whether he thought he was gook looking guy in his mine or his money was making him stupid. Trump should look into mirror himself before insulting other peoples’ appearance.

By the way, I was wondering how he combs his hair front and back without line on it. It's amazing.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

many American women loves Trump, he is rich and nasty that was for sure! He acts like a 'Hitler lite', a man who dared to turn on the heat of racial issue.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I am not a fan of Trump, but the moderator decided to go on the attack by trolling through Trump's past to come up with some quotes taken out of context.

If she didn't, Hillary would for sure and if he can't handle the question from the Mods, he'll get his ass kicked. They have to ask them hard questions, their rivals will and that's the ultimate test: can you answer it, can you handle it and Trump couldn't. And believe me, the Dems now know where Trumps cracks are and if he does become the nominee and the same goes for Hillary, she has enough ammunition to give Trump the beating of his life and if what we saw the other day of how Trump handles a question and turns into a bully. He will have a royal meltdown and I hope they will have enough security on or near that stage.

And it was most certainly an attack question. So, if you are going to go on the attack and get down and personal, you better be prepared for return fire.

Whether you like Kelly or not, she's not a wimp and Trump only showed that being whiny, thin-skinned and attacking women and being obnoxious will create a serious backlash. Will it kill him in the popular vote overall, maybe, maybe not, but whenever you attack women it usually never ends well or at least you'll be flogged for a very long time.

Besides, the moderator is no innocent wallflower. Exhibit 1, particularly interesting from the 7:00 mark:

Who cares, she's NOT running for president.

Meanwhile, nationally and in Iowa, Trump still leads the Clown Car.

Well done, Republicans. You built that!
