I hope they have good alarm systems. Some of those islands don't have much by way of high ground.

That's a powerful quake with a very shallow depth.

Like Tuvalu - they'll be in trouble if there is much of a wave. Of course. We might be in trouble too, depending on the situation. Better leep tabs on this one until we know one way or another.

The depth has been revised deeper to about 27 km.
All tsunami warnings have now been cancelled.

Yeah! Civilization survives - at least until next week when the asteroid wipes out communication.

And now I'm confused, because the JMA has issued an advisory

I have a feeling it may be tomorrow ! Early Monday morning I had a very reallistic dream that there was a BIG Earthquake on Wednesday evening. you heard it here first."
There are few earthquake predictions here on JapanToday. This one from Kuchikomi seems fairly accurate. Not in Japan, mind you, but it was a big earthquake.

Looks like they just had another big quake.

Sorry - they're having one after another, but most are magnitude 5 to 6 - big, but not huge.

Thoughts to the families of the 5 dead.
A massive earthquake which thankfully wasn't more devastating.

So the media should not put out information to keep the public informed about possible tidal waves, earthquakes, volcanoes or anything that isn't happening right at the same moment? Just give people the least amount of time to do anything for themselves to react? Ya think, an adult could just possibly make their own decision about the information given, ignore it or take advice from it?
