We can only hope and pray that they find peace and happiness in their lives, moderate religion sounds like a good start. SHALOM!

A few dictators in the Middle East-North Africa have ironically been safe guarding for years the relative peace & stability surroundingIsrael & a certain degree of acceptable living standard & 'freedom' ( undeniably, not-too-bad women's right in Libya under M. Gadhafi as an example ). Observing from the latest development, it seems to a mixed & uncertain future with more new regimes going after Islamic rule towards the other extreme ? Common policy of hostility towards Israel is increasingly obvious..& situation seems to be more precarious for general people in those countries.

Really have to pray for Israel & the people in the Arabic world I'm afraid !

Interesting phrase "moderate Islamists". You don't hear that very often :)

Yeah, it sounds like an oxymoron on the scale of "jumbo shrimp", "military intelligence" or "women's rights".

Perhaps it means that, if you are caught stealing, they will only cut off your finger instead of your entire hand.

From other, more in-depth interviews that I've heard, this "moderate Islamic group" want to call upon their own beliefs to create a stable and workable Tunisia that will benefit the whole country. They have no intention of embedding Islamist beliefs in the constitution, but rather they intend to create a secular constitution that protects the people of Tunisia and enables the country to grow. The "moderate" part of the label used to describe them apparently implies that they want to protect the country from the more extreme forms of their own religion. If this is true, I wish them all the best in achieving their goals.

    "moderate Islamists"

Do they allow men to have more than one wife?

Ennahda officials have promised a broad-based coalition, and vowed to wary Tunisians that democratic principles as well as gender equality will be respected in line with Muslim Tunisia’s strong secular tradition.

Why does this article have a headline stating "... moderate Islamists..." when Ennahda is supposedly for equality of the sexes and secularism? This article doesn't even attempt to explain the obvious contradiction between modern Islamism and moderation.
