My understanding is that those who ate them were of an Asian background. However, there are signs up all over Canberra warning not to eat any of these mushrooms, so ignorance of the danger is probably not to be blamed on anyone. Just don't eat any wild mushies, people - even experts have trouble identifying them. Rest in Peace, as Elbuda says, awful way to go.
