The UN needs to come down hard on Canada. And Canada needs to do exactly as the UN tells them.

China, which urged Canada to “face up to its responsibilities and obligations.”

China is saying that Canada should face up to its responsibility. Shows even China is taking this Seriously. Canada is showing the world that it maybe even more selfish in its future values.

Forget it UN. Japan, USA and Canada need to stop paying for the UN to boast it does so much. This is just world-wide welfare, and China and India are the beneficiaries at taxpayer expense. Will the major government and leaders pay attention to the taxpayers concerns? Yes, when lead floats, or whatever the Japanese saying is. Help.

Or what; is the UN going to impose any sanctions?

Canada was within it's full rights to pull out of the convention unilaterally.

If Janjaweed Sudan can lend the UN a deaf ear while massacring people in plain sight, what do you think the UN can do about something esoteric like a "convention on climate change".

Ok, so you disagree with me. Fine. But explain yourself. Don't just vote "like/don't like". That's weak.

To address climate change, it has to be addressed holistically. Piecemeal patchwork will result in failure. Complex systems like climate cannot be addressed half-heartedly. You have to go all in. Having some countries abide and some exempted is a bad approach. Unworkable.

When engineers address fuel economy in a car, do you think they address one thing only or only a few? No, they address the issue holistically. Drivetrain, propulsion, electronics, chassis, aerodynamics, engine, braking, etc.

Always a shock to be reminded that right-wing nastiness exists in every country. You expect it from the US and Britain, but somehow Canada and Scandinavia seem more enlightened. Way to go, Harper....

Who voted for the UN?

Why do they have the right to boss everybody around?

Lieberman2012 - The UN needs to come down hard on Canada. And Canada needs to do exactly as the UN tells them.

Hahahaha. The U.N. has NO authority to tell Canada, or China, or India what to do. It has NO enforcement arm. It can ask it's member nations to send Canada a "strongly" worded letter saying how upset they are but the member nations don't have to respond. Yawn.

Canada voluntarily agreed to the Kyoto agreement and they can drop out or just refuse to throw good money after bad. Either way, the Kyoto agreement is dead in the water because only the EU is pushing for it.

China is laughing at you. They have no intentions of joining the Kyoto agreement and they will not submit to any UN decree against it's business or political interests. Canada is simply doing what China has done.

"fight climate change"

What? Fight Mother Nature? You'll lose every time. All you can do is deal with whatever Mother Nature does.

If the Canadians' government won't act to halt the rise of the oceans well it means they oppose Obama. They want to see our president fail. They are haters. It looks like the individual subjects of the Dominion of Canada will have to take matters into their own hands.

Occupy Ottawa, now!
