Stay safe people, and just keep away from places like Malaysia and Indonesia. Sadly the governments of these nations are unwilling/unable to control their many dangerous islamists.

I havent heard of any Islamist attacks against westerners in Malaysia before, not sure what you are basing that on. The existence of a threat indicates the government cant control it? You are probably just as likely to be attacked by Islamic militants in Australia or Canada as you are in Malaysia or Indonesia.

It's happened. Mostly a lot of kidnappings and hostage taking by certain groups in those countries.
