Tuesday’s bill also directed House committees to work toward Republican legislation to replace Obamacare, a goal that has eluded the party repeatedly up to now.

Because the GOP doesn't have any coherent health care plans.

What's the replacement?

Can't take it out without an immediate replacement. Would leave millions of people in limbo who already signed and paid and expect that coverage.

The replacement won't be veto-proof without a great nickname. Here are a few possibilities:

O'Romney Care

No'more'care'for'y'all Care

Black Lung Boehner Care (administered in a patch)

Mitch McConnell's Makudonarudo McCare (sorry no potatoes)

Big gamble here by Republicans. They're trying to send a message to the Supreme Court that if they do overturn Obamacare in June the GOP will be ready with an alternative plan. They want the justices to worry less about potential chaos as a result of their ruling.

The obvious problem is that Republicans most likely won't be able to agree on a plan within their own party. The party is just too fragmented to really create any kind of broad, comprehensive programs on much of anything. You also have potential Presidential candidates hitting the trail and they will most likely promise completely different things. The last obstacle is that any GOP plan will have to have at least some characteristics of Obamacare, but since they have attacked all of it I don't see what options they will have left to include in their own plan.

So we're back playing the hostage game again. Just like potentially defaulting on the debt or defunding DHS because of immigration, the Republicans have found a new thing to blow up unless they get their way. Heaven help us all.
