The Iranian Mullahs can proudly quote progress.... the US, not so much. And certainly not Israel and the Sunni Arab Gulf states, who are now looking down the barrel of Iranian nukes.

Cheers, drinks, and balloons all around! Huzzah, huzzah!
The Iranian gent in the rightmost photo certainly looks happy.

Obama and Kerry have lowed the bar from dismantling to managing Iran's nuke program, and they are willing to compromise the actuality and assumption of Iran's history of cheating into a path of resolution, even bypassing Congress! The Shiite Iran has achieved its goal as regional power against the Sunni and the West. Iran is not a democratic nation, and the Mullah just said all activities (state sponsored terrorism) will continue. Obviously, the Sunni states will rush to nuclear capability as Iran wit the mix of ISIS, it is just a matter time. Muslim nations need REFORMATION not NUKES. The Pandora box of bloodshed and suffering will play out sooner than expected. History will remember Obama and Kerry as Chamberlain of Britain during WWII.

Totally agree. Remember how America used to negotiate with its greatest existential threat, the Soviet Union, between the 1950s and the 1990s? Even Reagan cut deals with those red bastards! And, aside from a still inhabitable planet and the demise of the USSR, what good has it brought us?

So what is the Republican plan if the talks collapse?
SushiSake3
Are the Republicans still trying to blow up the talks?
Frantically scribbling another letter that will show the world - again - how ill-educated they are?
One can only hope. :-)

Yes, I also remember when one Ted Kennedy tried very hard behind his back to throw a monkey wrench in those talks telling the Russians not to trust Reagan. But Gorbachev could see drunk Ted was full of it.
You walk away and wait until they come to you. With all that oil and all that money, they honestly need to have a nuclear program, really? If they want to build a bomb, NO deal until you can get absolute insurances and since you can't trust Iran, then they should allow the inspectors to come in and check EVERY known site they have for verification and if all is legit, then you proceed to the next step. But we know Iran will NEVER allow that. But libs think we should take them at their word for it?! Complete BS!
They really at this point don't need to in about 596 days, his majesty will be out of office and the deal is dead. Then luckily, we get to start over.
Ill-educated? You mean that this guy is making a deal for about 18 months?? Wow, some deal.
SuperLib
Or until they have a bomb, right?
bass4funk
Which they will TRY to do regardless, but if you pile them with tougher sanctions, conduct unexpected searches of their facilities, you can at least significantly slow them down, make it harder, make it hurt. As I said before, I am all for normalizing relations with the Iranians, but NOT as long as these religious fanatical mullahs are in charge.
Texas A&M Aggie
"The Obama administration has warned that a diplomatic failure could lead to an ever tougher dilemma"
Translation: "Hey, Iran! Hurry up and build your bomb because the next U.S. president might not be a weak-kneed, Israel-hater."
lostrune2
That would not be possible without any deal. Iran would never let any inspectors inside the country.
bass4funk
ROFL! I wonder why?
SuperLib
Bass, I think he's trying to say that your plan isn't really a plan, it's just wishful thinking. If Republicans want to eliminate the prospects of negotiation they need to convince us that they have a path out of the chaos that will be created. That's where the party tends to faulter.
bass4funk
Actually, it's not supposed to be a plan, it's supposed to be an act of action.
Well, I hope you heard what the Ayatollah said the other day. "Death to America" and with that attitude, all the more reason to walk away. The ONLY path out of all of this is to make sure as I outlined above. You sneeze them tight on sanctions, they were already hurting them, they admitted it and you allow random searches of their facilities and set up monitoring groups in that country to the point where they can't threaten their neighbors and start an even bigger arms race.
