If they can do the job, they should be allowed to do the job. The fighting ability of women is highly documented by amazing combat soldiers in the Israeli, Russian and other armies. Integrate the women into the rangers if they pass their qualifications.

@crazyJoe, just as long as the same qualifications apply. What handicap a woman has we men don't have is menstruation. Some women say very effected and some say no problem. Just as long as the expectations are the same.

Hypothetical scenario.....a woman in fierce combat, her time of the month, and rapid movements either retreating or advancing. Or....one single attractive woman in a platoon on a boring assignment in a remote location. Or....a pregnant woman not revealing to anyone until into either combat or again remotely deployed.

We are capable of the same both physically and mentally however we are not the same.

The problem isn't necessarily the physical/tactical skills of the individual female, it's their impact on unit cohesion. A combat infantry unit lives and dies by its cohesion, and dropping females into a group of testosterone-fueled young men almost universally undermines it. MarkG touches on some of the issues involved.

The fighting ability of women is highly documented by amazing combat soldiers in the Israeli, Russian and other >armies.

All of which were under existential threats, and severely cut back on their use of women once those periods were over. The Israelis in particular found that mixed male/female units suffered significantly higher psychological stress when taking female casualties and the males took greater, reckless risks attempting to rescue wounded female comrades.

Numerous female Marine Corps officers have written articles stating "This is not a good idea, don't push for women in the infantry." Why do outsiders have a such a hard-on for advancing this agenda?

Men and women are not equal in general. Men tend to be aggressive and stronger. This does not encompass ALL women, in general. Trying to change our genders is unnatural, trying to believe we are exactly the same is silly.

Even within genders we are all physically and mentally different.

In this article it is military, this is life or death if in combat. A rather serious role and any soldier would prefer strong, aggressive, capable fellow soldiers in their regiments if ever needed to go to war.

They should start allowing them into BUDS training. Then the women who are able to pass can make up a new SEAL Team. Women in Special Forces, I'm all for it as long as they meet the exact same requirements/qualifications as men candidates.
