Right on BB!
We all know that the 0.01%'ers (owns 90% of the wealth) and the Saudi royal family are joined at the pockets by the petrodollar. No surprise they would pitch in to help their bro's. But who requested the Freedom of Information Act? Again, no surprise that's not mentioned.
Wakayama Mama
I was also wondering about that. I am sure if someone issued a FOIA to see the firing of a rocket by an ally of the 0.01%'ers (e.g., shooting down of an airliner...), they'd find an excuse not to show it.
Oh, but that's different. America is spreading freedom and democracy, while the other side is spreading terrorism.... ; )

You and everyone that blindly agrees with this statement is an idiot. These are international waters and these ships have every right to be there. When Chinese warships and subs have traveled off America's coast, did the US Navy fire missiles a mile away? Do you even understand how short a mile is when we're talking about missiles? The desperation of anti-Americans to excuse every single incident that their favorite dictators create is frankly pathetic.

Iran has the right to test out missiles on their own waters, but not when commercial oil tankers are nearby, even on international waters. That's just reckless and endangering civilian lives.
Though firing it off unannounced with other military vessels nearby can also be reckless since one small miscommunication can mean trading shots and a battle.
Moral of the story is, announce these training tests in a busy waterway beforehand to minimize things that could go wrong, especially with flammable oil tankers and foreign naval vessels nearby.
(It's definitely unannounced since the Iran Revolutionary Guard even had to lie about it afterwards:
"Previously, Gen. Ramezan Sharif, a Revolutionary Guard spokesman, said his forces didn’t carry out any drills there at that time")
San Francisco Bay, no, that's sovereign territory. International waters, the US don't care - they and the Russians have been playing that game for decades. Heck, the US don't care through its own territorial waters as long as it's "innocent passage."
You probably don't hear about this, but in September, five Chinese warships crossed through US territorial waters off Alaska:
http://news.usni.org/2015/09/03/chinese-warships-made-innocent-passage-through-u-s-territorial-waters-off-alaska
You don't hear about it because the US doesn't say a peep about it. The US don't care.
The U.S. recognizes the right of nations to send warships into another country’s territorial waters as long as they do not conduct any military or intelligence related activities, a concept known as “innocent passage”. China, on the other hand, disputes this interpretation of international law, saying that naval vessels may not sail into its waters without express permission from Beijing.
Thus, the US is more permissive in their seas, while China is not. Which made that even more ironic that China is sailing its warships thru US waters, while China is throwing a hissy fit when the US sails its warships thru South China Sea that doesn't even belong to China.
So yeah, Iran can send their naval ships to the Gulf of Mexico. The US won't feel anything.

Considering past events, people should not automatically assume that the video and the US claims are real.

A most ridiculous statement. Do you really think that the rules of sea in any way allow for something like this to be acceptable?
lostrune2
We give 'em the same grain of salt as other videos including Russia bombing ISIS, France destroying oil tankers, Turkey hitting the Kurds, Iraq retaking towns, etc.
Let's see Iran's response.

Sorry Bush, but they don't conduct navel exercises anywhere near North Korea or North Korean ships.
A "few years ago" equals 28 years ago.

I saw the video. Even if it is legit, I don't see why it is such a big deal. The small boats in the distant background appear to be firing away from the tanker, not towards it.
lostrune2
Accidents don't happen because people prepared for it. That's why navies typically announce these test training things and maintain the water equivalent of no-fly zone.
Ya can be sure the bomber didn't go anywhere near civilian aircraft and fired weapons unannounced that could be misunderstood by North Korea as an attack. That's the crux of the missions here - to minimize what could go wrong.
Wakayama Mama
Indeed, we know of a few airliners accidentally shot down during US military exercises. Hey, I wonder if those exercises were announced, as is typically done, apparently.
Anyway, I saw the video, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be fake (it has happened before). That might explain why the drill was not announced.
lostrune2
Iran hasn't disputed the video

"Previously, Gen. Ramezan Sharif, a Revolutionary Guard spokesman, said his forces didn’t carry out any drills there at that time and called the American comments “psychological warfare.”"

Wakayama Mama, read that again:
"Previously, Gen. Ramezan Sharif, a Revolutionary Guard spokesman, said his forces didn’t carry out any drills there at that time and called the American comments “psychological warfare.”
Previously = before the video
