If I was a Christian I would yell out AMEN! Thank god/s, the buddha etc..getting rid of these horrible weapons of mass destruction!! Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel etc..all must stop making these horrible weapons NOW!! IMHO.

The nation’s largest nuclear bomb now is the 1.2-megaton B83. The B53 was 9 megatons.

wish both the bombs were 'disabled' together, never mind, when are they going to defuse B83?

if we have an aggressive nation who wants to attack it`s neighbours for greed then dismantling the nukes will not be a good idea.

Although, to be fair, (and I know I'll get abused for this) history has long demonstrated the efficacy of having a bigger, better weapon than your neighbor to deter unwanted advances. Not saying it's either right or wrong, but rather that it is a reality of the human condition.

War is not the answer, and using Hiroshima, Nagasaki type nuclear bombs is just inhumane. Do we need more Hiroshimas? More Nagasakis? Do we need Beijing to be bombed? Moscow? Washington DC with any bombs? Have people sick for years and years like the case that is unfolding up in Fukushima?? I think China is a hypocrite but also the USA also Russia and any country that has these weapons for me, they are stupid, wasting our time and $$$ on cold war mentality type of economies, Lets boycott all of these countries now!! Just my humble opinion, I do hope all of the nuclear war hawks here do not get upset.

But thousands of nuclear weapons remain in America, Russia, Britain, France, Israel which also has a hydrogen bomb, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia ( they received at least one from Pakistan for paying for their bombs), India, North Korea and China.

Very true, basic human nature never changes despite advances in science and our understanding of ourselves. The reptilian inner brain is still there no matter what the kumbaya peacenik types want us to believe. That said, when a nation has hundreds of smaller nukes it doesn't really matter whether or not you have some huge ones or not. There comes a point when a bomb just doesn't need to be any bigger; it just gets to the point of being ridiculous. A single bomb lethal enough to destroy a city is surely enough to deter any opposing nation or mad dictator rational enough to be deterred.

In other news, a vigil for the bomb was held on Governor Perry's ranch. Governor Perry could not be found for comment, nor could he if asked.

Sure both Russia and China shall never take that B-53 dismantling is a business that relevant to Obama's call for get rid of nuclear arsenals in the world! Instead both of them were keepng nuclear productions as America still keeping the B-2 stealth bombers! This is just a show of Mr Obama's dishonesty!

B-2 stealth bombers, while capable of carrying nuclear weapons, are not in and of themselves nuclear weapons. There's nothing dishonest about that.

Just a guy, I guess you believe everything the Beijing propaganda machine allows you to read right?? Freemasons rule the USA and are trying to take over the world and I guess all of these nuclear weapons were made by not just Americans, but only Freemasons right? Anyway, China, the USA etc..need to stop wasting $$$$$ on stupid things like weapons and worry more about giving food, clothes, medicine to the people on this planet.
