Kind of funny to see the Republicans getting all angry now that their game is being played against them.

I for one think it is a wonderful thing that America is willing to put into risk so much that one resource without which life is impossible - water - to benefit some Canadian industrialists. Good thing the tar sands were not in Mexico, though; such generosity in America is generally limited to our northern neighbor.

Ready the veto pen! Keystone is a joke, it will create as many jobs as a local mcdonalds, Republicans making this a key point of their economic strategy is laughable

Meanwhile Americans are being duped into subprime loans for subprime gas guzzlers.
Plus ça change...

Should have negotiated with 5 others for a veto-proof majority before passing it.

Selfish old rich white men. The face of the Republican party. I bet you even old Teddy Roosevelt is turning in his grave with rage.

"Democrats framed the bill as gift to a foreign oil company that would have little benefit for the American people, because much of the oil would be exported."
Yes, jobs and exports are bad!
"Environmental groups have called on Obama to reject the project outright, saying it would make it easier to tap a dirty source of energy..."
Oil is dirty all right, but right now oil is the world's primary source of energy.
"... that would exacerbate global warming."
To what degree?

Mitch McConnell is a liar. The State Department never said the Keystone pipeline "could create up to 42,000 jobs". What the State Department said was that the Keystone Pipeline could SUPPORT up to 42,000 jobs. "Support" means Mary-Jo down at the diner will see a bit of a boost in tips because of the increase in business while the construction is going on nearby. She's one of the 42,000 being counted by the State Department's report, but she's had her job for a LONG time before anyone started talking about a pipeline. And unlike the overwhelming majority of the workers constructing the pipeline, shes probably still going to have her job after the construction is finished. Want to know how many PERMANENT jobs would be created by this pipeline? Thirty-five (35). That's in the same State Department report that Mitch McConnell is misquoting. Of the actual construction workers, the estimate is around 4,000 temporary jobs lasting an average of only 19.5 weeks. Funny how he doesn't note that fact, eh?
