Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Turkey is acting the ingrate.

The web is with money.

Leadership in many countries can be brought with money. Money buys power for the leaders as well as enhence personal wealth.

US by pouring money and weapons used Turkey initially against Russia, as Turkey took advantage of the US big time. Now China has the money (collected from the rest of the world into its so called assistance program international banking system) to "buy" Turkey. But in essence, the Arab league with their oil money had already "bought" them way before US even tried. US money was a bonus. So any investment from China may not benefit China as they may think it will.

Good Riddance Erdogan, let him go to them, they are much better suited. The EU has enough problems within the current member states, without taking on Turkeys.

Let them look East. The state of EU and US foreign policy really is a mess.

What a surprise. When Erdogan "looked South" (supplied IS and other bands in Syria) NATO turned a blind eye to it, but as soon as Erdogan "looked East" NATO got very agitated. What a high-principled policy.

And what about US nuclear weapons at the Incirlic AFB? The rumor has it the warheads are being transferred to Rumania.

The USA relationship with Turkey has been around for many decades. We are friends and partners in a complicated world. As always happens between friends, proximity often has to take precedence for local issues over other considerations. It isn't always easy.

This doesn't change how I feel about my friends in Turkey or alter my belief they are trying to solve their problems in the best way they know how. Just because my gvmt doesn't understand Turkey, doesn't make them a bad country or bad people. They appear to be slowly becoming more Islamic, which most of the country appears to agree about. There are a small percentage of non-Muslims living in Turkey who probably don't like these changes.

Turkey is a member of NATO. I don't expect that to change. Should the USA extradite Gulen? I don't know. Facts matter (usually) in the USA, not allegations.
