Some real brave soldiers on the Ukrainian side, fighting against such a large bully.

When people want independence, why can't it just be given to them?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Brave Ukrainian soldiers 160 thousand of them unable to stop the not so brave few thousand in a 10 to 1 ratio war. I wonder how brave are they.

Ukrainians are starting to wake up to the US/NATO/IMF stooges in Kiev. They are stopping the Kiev thugs and their forced drafting of their young boys city by city.

Complete lack of logic. According to official Kiev reports, now there are about 45 - 50 thousand Kiev regime troops (in regular army units and volunteer neonazi battalions) fighting in Donbass / Lugansk. Several days ago general Muzhenko, chief of Ukrainian general staff, admitted that there were no Russian troops in Donbass, and the regime forces are fighting against local militia. Rebel forces are hard to estimate, but they are unlikely to have more then 30 thousands fighters now. But it is enough to stop the regime forces, and now "brave Ukrainians" vent their anger at helpless civilians with everyday artillery and rocket barrages, killing dozens of people every day. And who is "such a large bully" after that?

admitted that there were no Russian troops in Donbass

What happened to all of the Russian volunteers? Did they all decide not to go to Donbass?

But it is enough to stop the regime forces, and now "brave Ukrainians" vent their anger at helpless civilians with everyday artillery and rocket barrages,

The rebels bring the fight to whatever city they enter. Seems that in the areas where they aren't forcefully taking over government buildings the civilians are largely unaffected.

Superlib, I guess you don't pay attention to the news, cuz Obama has been saying for months that Russia is involved in this Civil War.

"The rebels bring the fight to whatever city they enter."

The "rebels" haven't entered any cities. Stop lying

The Kiev puppets are bombing cities with women and children. Schools were closed today because of it. And you are supporting that. What a wonderful human being you must be.

Super Lib@ I think Muzhenko meant Russian regular forces. There are many Russian volunteers, particularly from nearby Russian regions, they have a lot of relatives at Donbass / Lugansk. Also there are volunteers from other countries, fighting alongside rebels - Serbs, French, Spanish, even from Brazilia (saw on Youtube). In Kiev regime forces there also many foreigners - neonazis, mercenaries of all kind. On Youtube I saw some footage with English-speaking foreigners in combat at Donbass. A couple of months ago a prominent Swedish neonazi was killed near the frontline in a car accident.

The rebels bring the fight to whatever city they enter

The rebels try not to demolish cities and villages. Don't forget, they live there!! Will you blow up your own house?? Regime forces are different, they are invaders on a hostile territory, and they demonstrate it in very high caliber detail.

said Obama is specifically concerned about the besieged Ukrainian military’s capacity for using high-powered, American-supplied weaponry

I'm really curious - what type of high powered American weaponry can change situation ?

They already have tanks, heavy artillery, ground to ground rockets .. APCs and IFVs (Soviet type)

what else ?

A-bomb?

@Olegek

The current proposal is to give Ukraine counter-battery sensor equipment so that they can quickly locate and counter attack artillery batteries which are dropping shells on Ukrainian troops. Apparently something like 70% of Ukrainian casualties are from artillery fire. There was also some talk about giving Ukraine some light anti-tank weaponry, because apparently the man-portable AT that the Ukrainian army currently has is crap. Not exactly "high powered," but there you go.

US military armament may prove once and for all whether Eastern troops use weapons and ammunition supplies left behind by Ukraine miltary, in a couple ways:

1) If Eastern troops ever ends up using US arms left behind, and

2) if US giving Ukraine higher level weapons make Russia also give Eastern troops counteracting higher level weapons that Ukraine military never had and therefore cannot have left behind.

So such a development could finally put a light on this issue.

Russia has acknowledged that some of its citizens are fighting among the rebels as volunteers, but rejects the Ukrainian and Western charge that it’s backing the insurgency with troops and weapons. Western experts say, however, that the sheer amount of heavy weapons under rebel control shows extensive help from Moscow.

Russia denies it, but Eastern troops don't. At least Eastern troops are being honest.

Sorry - before the make a diagnosis you should examine the patient

The main problem of Ukrainian Army is not a lack of modern equipment - in such case problem was easy to resolve (but expensive at the same time, because modern weaponry is very expensive and Ukraine is a bankrupt)

The main problem - that any army is a part of state. And Ukrainian state today is in a deep crisis. There are fierce struggle for power in Kiev. Not Poroshenko not Yatsenyuk nor Parliament have full legitimacy

The taxes are not collected, economy not functioned , laws are not respected....

You just can't support a normal army in such situation.

Ukrainian Army lack food, uniform, medicine, drinking water , fuel, ammo - everything !

They do not treat the seriously wounded - tooo expensive.....

Ukrainian just leave them to die...

In case of danger Ukrainian officers always running first - leaving their untrained conscripts to die under penalty of military tribunal in case of retreat

And worse of all Ukrainian Army killing citizens of Ukraine ...

They are not heroes anyway

You can't change all these by delivering anti-tank weaponry or radars
