Sorry to say, rape as a weapon of war still exists today.

And the U.N. troops should know; they probably stood by and watched it happen.

I doubt that the world will do much about this. We all stood by in the 1990s and watched the Congo civil war kill in the order of 3 million people. Again, there will be headlines and articles, but those who can do something about it won't do anything. After all, they're only Africans.

At the moment, genocidewatch.org has counted 9 conflicts causing genocides going on in the world today : Central African Republic, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eastern Burma, Eastern Chad, Iraq, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and a possible 10th, if they include what is happening to white Afrikaans in South Africa (they'll be voting on how to present this case to the UN http://www.genocidewatch.org/BoersSlain01.htm)

Take your pick which one is the most urgent to stop, because we are not going to be able to stop all of them, not at once at least.

That's a lot of people being killed. How do we have the UN intervene? They possible can't. I would propose some sort of outsourced military units as none of these atrocities are going to end peacefully I believe.

Unfortunately, peace talks and demanding ceasefires wont cut the mustard. Weve been trying for years and it hasnt stopped. Africa for the most part is one massive mess. There is potential of course but not under the kind of leadership that exists today throughout the continent. A decision has to be made now on what the future will be for Africa because if not soon things will snowball... Some serious action needs to be taken, perhaps destruction of the "Degenerates" causing this sadness. But wait... the international community wont go for that because theyll plea for civilian safety. Thats a nice gesture but everyday havoc continues to destroy tens of thousands and nobody cares. Clean up the trouble, regulate it and start developing. Africa is a huge place that can be made safe and productive provided there is constant stability. I just dont think the world as a whole has a vested interest in Africa or many things would have changed by now. Wheres "We Are The World" when you really need it?

The Republic of Congo is a huge land mass and you only have 16,000 UN PeaceKeepers. Most of these rebels were forced out of Rhawanda.

Millions are being killed (a thousand a day average). Most dangerous country for a woman to be living in.

White Afrikaans? Is there any other color? For crying out loud... Someone actually telling the UN (loaded with the victims of those same murdering Afrikaaners) to save the Afrikaaner. God I feel sick. And who does Skipthesong think is behind the DRC/Zimbabwe mayhem?
