What an absolutely bizarre and sad case. It looks to me like some of the best human beings on the planet just got murdered. I cannot believe this has been up all day and mine will be the first reply. It is sad that it took JT so long to post an RIP. I am even ashamed of myself for not making it my first post of the day.
RIP good people. If there is a heaven, surely you are there now.

This is quite an extraordinary and disturbing case, and one that is certain to become a sensation once more details are disclosed. Yesterday, Escambia County's Sheriff Morgan indicated that one or more of the men who attacked the house were aware of the family situation with special needs kids.
Since the men were in the house only for a few minutes, and reports do not indicate whether they actually took anything, it appears that the motive for this was other than robbery. If murder was the intent from the beginning, it seems very odd that so many people could be recruited for an attack like this. (As opposed to a lone, disgruntled individual.)
One possibility is that Mr. Billings may have had a secret life that involved him with some very bad people. Another possibility is that the group harbored neo-Nazi-type viewpoints about taking care of special needs people. (During the Nazi regime, the mentally retarded were euthanized.)

yabits, yes your possibilities are quite possible. I really hope I do not have to eat my words about either one of them being excellent human beings.
Let me offer a third possibility, that one or more of the men were just homocidal maniacs who thought they had an opportunity to murder and get away with it throught having accomplices, or even that one or more were just idiots who made a sudden decision that killing the only viable witnesses was the smarter move. Both would explain why they were killed so quickly. The rest might have just been in it for simple robbery.

I read about the situation and felt exactly the way you did about the couple. But in this crazy world I often have to reserve my judgment.
The possibility you provide is very plausible also.
