I'm wondering if they'll be able to tell how many were born to illegal aliens.

Probably a large percentage, considering the child is born a citizen and can serve as a residency anchor for the rest of the family. Also considering the cost of the child's birth is covered 100% by the taxpayer under indigent care laws.

I'm wondering how many of these unwed pregancies were of children who were taught abstinance. Who didn't carry protection because they're supposed to resist.
Then when they didn't have protection, they still had sex. < :-)

I wonder if marriage will even exist as an institution 50 years from now.

I love the wholesome values that the last 8 years have brought our great nation. Thank you moral majority, you really make our nation shine.
Why is it illegal aliens that are having these babies?
How does this one sound
I'm wonder how many of these babies were born a white anglo saxons?
I myself think that trying to say that the babies are of this or that race is a bit....ahh well....tasteless.....
We should not be concerned with what race the babies are, we should be concerned with why there are so many out-of-wedlock babies being born.
Either way someone has to pay for them.
In my book, sex education is the most important thing to teach folks.
Teach them to use a condom and to not have babies unles they can pay for them.
But again I am not a far right Republican who hold that all babies must be born.....Hm I wonder how many of those births are to far right wing Rush Republicans?

Young Miss Palin is one of the statistics here. She said in an interview that she wished that the school had taught about the use of condoms and not abstinance. < :-)

My kid better not be a stat like this.

Single teen and Gen X mothers who need to make ends meet will not be able to pay the new taxes that will be needed to support all those programs Obama wants the government to support.

Here's a link of a CNN article where Bristol Palin says abstinance only is "unrealistic": http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/17/bristol.palin.interview/
She's proof of the flaws in that theory. In school I was taught about contraceptive use. We were encouraged by the teachers to be abstinant, but if we wanted to have sex, we should use contraceptives. Speaking for myselfand my sample of friends, that approach has worked. No unintended pregnancies. I can't understand why anyone would want to keep teens in the dark on this issue. Why keep those we care about in the dark on ANY issue? Would you not teach your child about fire for fear that they might burn themselves? It's just irresponsible.

Thanx ANOTSUSAGAMI for suppling the link.
These past 8 years children have been taught abstinance. Abstinance does nothing except tell children not to carry contreceptives, not to be prepared in case you get into a moment...... < :-)

Although I don't approve of having children without marriage, Bristol Palin is the least of our worries. Her child will never know poverty or be dependent on society. It's the unwed welfare mothers having eight kids with eight different fathers that's the problem. Best address this serious problem rather than trying to get cheap political mileage against Palin.

Don't be stupid. Teen birthrate is the lowest in 65 years. It's people in their 20s and 30s who are CHOOSING to have kids out of wedlock, with absolute planning.
Oh, and it's over 70% of black kids now, more than 50% of Hispanic babies, and almost 30% of white kids that are born out of wedlock now.
This is the result of modern contraception and the increasing postmodern "if it feels good, do it" viewpoint that children are being raised in; the same trends are observed in almost every country that shares the postmodern mindset.
