Den Den - it's been serious since Mexicans started dying, unless you don't consider Mexican people to be on an equal par as Americans.

"This afternoon a member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) dismissed claims that more than 150 people have died from swine flu, saying it has officially recorded only seven deaths around the world.
Vivienne Allan, from WHO's patient safety program, said the body had confirmed that worldwide there had been just seven deaths - all in Mexico.

Isn't this what Japan is doing right now?

If it is so serious, why has their been no mention of the horrendous conditions that mammals must suffer for cheap fattening unhealthy food - that is the cause? The cause of this epidemic must be mentioned in more detail, and greedy farming must be changed, so no more deaths occur...of any race!

Because if you talk about that people might stop buying cheap meat, which would be bad for business. Or they might demand the animals be treated humanely, which would put an extra penny or two on the price of meat, which would be bad for business.

Responsibility involves good husbandry, too - no feeding the beasts on any old muck, no crowding them together in unhygienic factory farms, no pumping them full of antibiotics to combat the inevitable consequences of poorly-fed animals in unhygienic, overcrowded conditions, no roaming round the countryside taking pot shots at wildlife and letting them stagger off into the woods to die slowly and in agony.

I've had to do a lot of research on the social impact "H1N1" has had and I have to say, I came away shocked. The fringe right and left in America have some truly wacky theories about this virus. I've read that the virus was released so that Americans can demonize Mexicans and I've read that the reason for the NY flyby was so that Pres. Obama could release the virus in America, taking the heat off of other issues. Then there's the people who think they are immune because they don't eat pork....
It's amazing how much panic and craziness has occurred because of a disease that is, for most people, not even fatal.
Wash your hands before and after eating, (the Happy B-Day song is a good gauge of how long you should spend washing your hands), avoid touching your or anyone else's mucussy areas and don't share things that come into close contact with people's eyes, nose or mouth, such as a keitais, lip cream or eating utensils.
And the first person to call it the Capt. Trips virus gets a smack.

I understand that the Swine Flu has been detected in Asia now. It's going to travel, but we just have to be vigilant with handwashing and the such.
I just told a friend: My boss and her new husband are going to Mexico on Sunday. Just do the recommended stuff. Wash hands, stay away from crowds (not easy for school children) and anybody who coughs, shoot them. They're sick already. <:-)

It was verified that the child was actually a Mexican citizen visiting family in Texas. The boy contracted the virus in Mexico. Not do downplay the families suffering, but the media took some liberites in reporting this one.
Green tea...? Naw. We all know Shochu will kill any virus on the planet!
