China wasn't invited.

Are we supposed to feel happy, or encouraged, by this jocular "eco" message at the end of the article? The 42 surface ships will consume many tons of fuel just getting to Hawaii, and will pollute the atmosphere burning it up. (Unless the ships are nuclear -- as far as I know there are still no solar-powered naval vessels.)

Yes, twenty two nations and China not invited to the party. What do they have to say about that?

World's largest waste of money!

The natural disaster training is not a waste of money. Also the training to remove mines is a good ideal.

Yes, let's practise for more wars because that's what everyone wants isn't it? Especially eco-friendly ones.
"I'm not against war per se but I do object to the poluttion they create. Give me a nice Green war and I'd be happy with that".
Jesus. How dumb have we become?

I was in Hawaii for many a RIMPAC in my Navy days. One thing to remember is don't be caught outside at 0800 when the National Anthem is played. They start off with the US Anthem, and then go down the list of each anthem for each country that has a ship tied up there. You would spend a good 15 minutes of continuous saluting during that time.
One good thing though will be a slight bump in tourist activity in Waikiki from all of those "druken sailors" that will be down there. Brings back memories.

Does their naval drills practicing how to intercept an incoming ICBM? Guess what...none of the countries participated willing to share such a death wish!

These naval exercises are actually for something helpful. Good for the 22 nations participating. They each have something to contribute. Not everything should be about war.

Is Japan in for this game of bluff? Will Japan get involved or just sit back an watch what happens in a tough situation? Practice is one point, but action is what counts. At least the benefit is to Hawaii rather than some insignificant islands.
