This has been a long time coming. Dems have been putting this off for quite awhile. Many of these charges go back years. Apart from that though. Since Dems are almost certain to lose the House this fall, he won't be regaining his chairmanship, at all. Considering that some of these charges, are without doubt true, that is a good thing.

Term limits would take care of the problem. No more professional politicians. Four terms for the House and two for the Senate. Send them to Washington and kick them out before they get to comfortable.

We already have term limits, they are called elections. If the person is not doing their job, vote them out!

We also have influence peddling that is too sophisticated for most people to be aware of.

I have just had a great idea for a new political TV programme in the US. Why not get the soon to be unemployed Tony Hayward to host a show that invites political guests on to explain where all their money has come from, what companies they are directors with and who they are all related to in whatever way. It could be called “Money trails” and Rangel could be first one on since he obviously hasn’t long to go before he too is unemployed.

LOL!! This was a key part of Gingrich's "Contract on America" back when Democrats had a president in the WH and majorities in both houses of Congress. Of course, when the Republicans took over Congress back in '94, they didn't even propose it!
Yes, friends, term limits was conveniently forgotten only to be resurrected again now by fools with very short memories.

Rangel will end up with a written slap on the wrist, lose his chairmanships and given a Czar-ship by Obama.

Gingrich had a "Contract with America". The Dems were the ones that came up with "Contract on America". If you're going to use the label, give proper credit Yabits. And yes, it was proposed, but too few people were willing to go along. They decided it would take a constitutional amendment to achieve it, and like the flag burning amendment, they simply didn't have the votes to pass it. Particularly in the Senate. Individual states could provide term limits, independent of the Constitution. Though it would doubtless be challenged, depending on how it was written, theoretically its should be possible to win. The trouble then would be, some states would pass it, and implement it, while others would not.

If Charlie had an (R) behind his name, he would have gone through "The Five Step Plan" many moons ago:
Step One ... Convene A Federal Grand Jury
Step Two ... Obtain Indictments
Step Three .... Frog-marched into Federal Court for Trial/Sentencing
Step Four ..... Handcuffs/Leg Irons
Step Five ..... One-Way Bus Trip To Leavenworth
But because he's a democrat, his "punishment" will probably end up being a Cabinet-level position in Obama's administration.

An old political hack that has gotten comfortable with the ways of political corruption after 20 terms in Congress. This guy is so guilty of tax evasion it's not funny - especially since he is the chair of the committee that writes tax laws that the rest of us are supposed to adhere to.
I wish there were term limits like there is for the Presidency. A president can serve a max of two 4 year terms. I'd allow Senators two 6 year terms and Congressmen five 2 year terms. The only problem is that Republicans can't bring themselves to actually do what they say and vote in term limits and Democrats believe with religeous zeal in the need to make every citizen a representative of the state. It would take an amendment to the Constitution to limit the terms of legislators and America has become too statist to go for it now.
As likeable as Rangle can be, he is a crook and I hope the guy ends up in prison. However, with a mostly Leftist and enabling press, Democrat majorities in Congress and a Democrat President, I think he somehow wiggles out of a jail term. He probably gets a all to late retirement and a one way ticket to one of his villas in the Caribbean.
