"In a cautious first step toward unlocking 30 years of tense relations, senior U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke had a brief but cordial meeting with Iran’s deputy foreign minister Tuesday at an international conference on Afghanistan."
Heh, this is change the Republicans will refuse to believe in.
After years of bellicose childish 'you're either for us or against us,' 'axis of evil' BS spouted by the previous U.S. leader, these latest developments are truly refreshing.

The Agreed Framework between N. Korea and the U.S. under Bill Clinton was an abject failure. It now looks like Obama is planning on making the same mistake with Iran. So now, it's not a matter of if, but of when the Iranians will test their first nuke. The Mullahs are laughing. And yes, Bush failed as well.

I'm glad they met. Didn't expect anymore than a "Howdy-do" from either side on initial meetings. < :-)

Oh man, the Americans are getting hoodwinked here. Ahmedinejad is playing chess, Obama is playing tic-tac-toe. That is where ignorance gets you.

Ignorance from discussion? Really willi, you sound more and more radical by the day...
...Iran and the US helping each other pick up the toys around each others collective prams by discussion, and by in this case drug trade co-ordination or cooperation can only be seen as positive IMO.
