That's 314 more Americans then should have died in Iraq during 2008 and 4221 more than should have died in Iraq at all. Period. < :-)

It's amusing to watch the lengths the media goes to in their efforts to avoid saying US and coalition forces have won in Iraq.

I suspect things may change somewhere around the third week this month...

Look how many families lose loved ones in America, due to the warmonering policies of Bush.

I hope there is peace soon, but it seems to me that America loves and glorifies war. When will the carnage stop!!!

No, what's amusing is watching the lengths you, and three other people on this board will go to to say the war was actually won while the rest of the world knows the truth.

Iraq was a lost cause from the get-go, and the attempts to form a coup seem to be growing, not to mention the shoe-tossers. The only thing positive coming from Iraq is the positively hilarious rhetoric they issue:

"The 30 + people were NOT forming a coup... they are patriotic America-- err, Iraqis (who will never be heard from again)".

SuperLib is right, though. It is indeed time to get back to the original course in Afghanistan, where your politicians decided to sway from to go in and attack Iraq after being unable to find OBL.

They do? The recent article about the alleged coup-in-the-making was debunked from what I read. But then, JT (and most of the major media) have little interest in reporting follow-up articles on the more sensational stories out of Iraq.

The excitable silliness this selective reporting engenders, evident in the second half of this quote, shows why:

One journo, pro-Shiite and by reports obsessed with the story about a US soldier using the Q'uran for target practice, tossed his shoes at a president who makes trips to Iraq less than once a year. Lefties rushed here to insist the reporter was later tortured and some intimated he would be "disappeared". Surely such prospects (along with, even you know, the fact that Bush is gone in three weeks) would deter Iraqis seeking to repeat this Arab display of contempt, wouldn't they?

So, where are the stories of these growing numbers of shoe-tossers, other than in the imaginations of the same "pacifists" who predicted (wished for would be more accurate) civil war in Iraq?

For many, the war will never be won in their eyes. If we meet all our objectives and Iraq becomes a sucessfull democracy, it will have costed to much. That will be the last argument left for the anti-war to hang on to. It is slowly approaching and im already predicting it.

More proof of that civil war the "pacifist" Left has long hoped for: control of the Green Zone in Baghdad was handed over today to Iraqi forces.
