Plenty more where those came from. The US continues to chase the impossible dream.

Nice to see the U.S. STILL leading the way. After five long bloody years, American forces are the ones fighting today, capturing suspects tomorrow, day after repeat and rinse. Whatever happened to the Iraqi forces. Oh, I forget, they need more "time." Zzzzzzzzz.

The troops have done their jobs. We've lost almost 4100 American lives. We've destroyed a country and wasted $700,000,000,000.00.
I'm so glad that we located all those WMD.
Bring the troops home. < :-)

Skipthesong:
So what? They caught one, and thousands are educated at the radical mosques sprouting all over the country. They are still only addressing the symptoms, not the problem. In Iraq as well as in the US and everywhere.

zaphod: Don't you know yet that you are not allowed to say things like that?

There should be daily cartoons in every newspaper until the fundie freaks learn tolerance to piss-taking.
Until I see outrage the muslim world condemning all the vile acts vomitted up in the name of their religion, a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban is quite fitting.

"We've destroyed a country"
We have not. We've liberated a country and given the citizens the opportunity to sort their problems out themselves, however they see fit, whether they want to work together or kill each other. Recently there's been more working together. Violence had dropped dramatically. We are being vindicated.

Madverts, you know you could be beheaded for saying that, don't you?

Yes Sarge. You are so correct.
They have plenty of water coming out of therir destroyed water purification systems.
They have plenty of electricity coming out of their destroyed electric plants.
They have plenty of waste going through their waste processing plants.
They have plenty of jobs after we destroyed most of their factories.
Their cities have been bombed to destruction.
Now Sarge, tell me where I'm incorrect.
You continue to post these pro-war posts and have yet to look at the damage we've caused. Damage we have to pay to restore.
So we captured 2 Al-Quaeda. The Iraqi Army or Police could/should be doing this.
But, continue to deny the damage. < :-)

A truly craven statement that refuses to face up to facts. It would have been an "opportunity" ONLY if Iraq had a history of the kinds of institutions that would have enabled them to work out their problems. The only thing that kept the more radical adherents of the two branches of Islam from each others' throats was Saddam and his brutal regime. Removing him and then allowing the country to descend into chaos of torture, murder and millions of refugees is on the Bush regime.
"Duped" is more accurate. The current "truce" between the factions is only a holding pattern waiting us out. McCain has already indicated that it would take 100 years for him ever to admit that the whole thing was a tragic mess, that served only to make Iran more powerful and the US weaker.

Uh, sarge;
"Violence had dropped dramatically. We are being vindicated."
No "you" aren't. The US is dealing with the violence it has caused, and no matter how look at it, 500 odd cadavers is not good news.
Vindication for you lot would be the stockpiles of WMD that didn't exist.
It's probably best for you to stick to thinking al-Sadr and his followers are a "tiny minority" in Iraq, heh, and that the monster truck extravaganza's and freedumb will be coming soon...

yabits - "ONLY if Iraq had a history of the kinds of institutions that wuld have enabled them to work out their problems."
It's true that Iraq has never had the kinds of institutions that would have enabled them to work out their problems - until now. Better late than never.
Madverts - I notice you still haven't come up with any proof that your boy al-Sadr has the support of a majority of Iraqis.
""The US is dealing with the violence it has caused"
Yeah, we caused these Shiites and Sunnis to blow each other up. It was all part of our Iraqi population control plan. Sheesh.
"Uh, sarge"
I'm laughing at the superior intellect.

Sarge: "It's true that Iraq has never had the kinds of institutions that would have enabled them to work out their problems - until now. Better late than never."
The US hasn't been helping build Iraqi federal institutions, but its strategy of the past year and a half has been just the opposite -- building up tribal and factional leaders. As noted in the article, one faction, the Kurds, aren't paying a lot of attention to the central government. Iraq is eventually going to split into three separate countries, with the Shiite one a strong ally of Iran, and the Kurdish one at odds with NATO ally Turkey. (Where Kurds have engaged in terrorist acts.)
The only question is how bloody the civil war will be that splits up the former country. With the US arming and training each of the factions to various degrees, a lot of that blood will be on our hands. So much for those mythical institutions you've proclaimed.

Uh, sarge,
"I notice you still haven't come up with any proof that your boy al-Sadr has the support of a majority of Iraqis."
I don't need to. You made that up after being proven to be highly ill-informed on a subject you are pretty opined about!
Better luck next time.
