Prime example of government ineptitude. Why in gods green earth does anyone want the government to take over more control of our lives?

The fleecing of America not only continues, its getting worse.

The fleecing of Social Security and Medicare by the government by borrowing and never repaying the funds will be the demise of the programs. < :-)

The administration on Monday revised its federal deficit forecasts upward to project an imbalance this year of $1.84 trillion, four times last year’s record, and said the deficits will remain above $500 billion every year over the next decade.

    One word for the administration....IDIOTS

So far this week we've learned; the Pope isn't a nazi, stressed soldiers are stressed, the Taliban is bad, and social programs lose money...revelations abound.

Wasn't it the strategy of the Neocons to actually dive gov't into the ground ("drown it in the bathtub" is what I think the quote is) in order to force the collapse of the current system of gov't's social safety net and other non-neocon programs? So they drove gov't spending crazy with 2 wars and inept managing of gov't (remember "heck of a job"?).

And the cherry on top of this wet dream is that the DEMS, especially Obama, get blamed.

buddha4brains, one year of social security or medicare budget is the equalivalent of all the money the US has spent for both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. If you take away the wars they wouldn't help out the budget that much. The wars really didn't come close at all to collapsing the current system.

GWB didn't help when he undertook the biggest expansion of the welfare state since LBJ by expanding Medicare to include a prescription drug benefit. Where were folks like Sailwind when that happened? I was helping my parents sign up for it. I don't know any eligible senior, whatever their politics, who hasn't taken advantage of it.

I suspect the majority of posters here decrying the cost of social programs and government involvement are themselves covered by public sector insurance programs.
