Get over it. For starters, the only link to Obama is in the imagination of some certain readers. From the description of the cartoon, I did not see the link to Obama at all, not in any racist sense.
Second, even a very direct comparison of Obama to a chimp is fair game I am afraid. In all my life, I do not think I have seem more pictures likening anyone to a chimp as I have seen of GWB. Welcome to the 21st century, where any human of any race can look like a chimp, and nobody more than a certain white guy. So get over it I say.

What likeitis said.
GWB was regularly portrayed as a rather ugly chimp, and virtually the only criticism levelled at those cartoons is that they insulted chimps the world over.
It's OK to liken a white pres to a monkey, but not a half-black one - that's racist.
Now that's in very bad taste.

When did Obama write the "stimulus" bill?
Besides, if Obama had an (R) behind his name, Democrat cartoonists would be routinely caricaturing a monkey-like President Obama. Then, of course, that would be ok.

I believe that the cartoon was in very bad taste. < :-)

I saw the cartoon and it was in terrible taste.
I don't think it's racist. I think it's obvious that they were referring to Obama.

I had to think twice before understanding this alleged "link to Obama".
That link only exists if you imagine that Obama personally penned the entire 1000-page pork bill, which of course is nonsense. The monkey here is the House of Congress, which produced this pork mountain.
But maybe that is rule from now on? Criticize anything democrat, and you are called a racist?

Why link the ape shooting to the stimulus bill? Totally bizarre cartoon, racist or not.
Dunno, the cops are saying they need someone else (singular) to create the stimulus. Obama was the first thing that came into my head.

moonbeam:
So how different is that from the last 8 years of Bush cartoons? Seems to me that only the rules have changed: Before, tasteless cartoons were cool, now the Messiah must not be cartoonized.

The cartoon tries to get a laugh out of the tragedy of an abused animal being shot dead. That's what's in bad taste.
Comparing or equating a US president - or any politician - with a monkey or any other animal (poodle springs to mind) is no problem. You go into politics, you'd better be prepared to be well and truly lampooned. If your skin is too thin to take it, better go find another job where people will treat you more kindly.

The New York Post had the Travis the chimp story on the front cover. The cartoonist was probably asked to do something with the story and this pathetic excuse of a joke is what he came up with. The guy is a retard making cartoons for a paper aimed at retards, what do you expect.

Send Rupert back to the outback. What a nerve, for a guy that bought his US citizenship.

If you just stopped labeling everything either Democrat or Republican, your IQ would instantly rise a couple points.
The rule is that there are different standards to criticizing blacks and whites. It sucks, but its true.
