    This is the first step

This is the only step and right step that Bush has taken in nearly eight years and NK will be free from sanctions afer 20 years. not bad news!

and the media will never like him, no matter what he does. Totally ridiculous

Kim has never cared for Media and for media there are many targets like China, Myanmar, Iran, Cuba, Zimbabwe.....will keep us entertained, nothing to worry.

If I remember right, that act prevents or prevented trade from nations like Vietnam, Libya, Iran, North Korea, Cuba as well as others. Not many of those countries are still on there. Like Sarge said, I think its just Cuba and Iran on there now. Though there might be others. Couple of the African countries like Uganda might be effected as well, though I doubt it.

    Good news for everyone.

"This is just a first step"..rightly so.NK only discloses what can not be hidden, the secret ones are still in its hands.

tclh- This is small step for NK, but giant leap for peace via trade/investments, with sanctions removed.

Ahh, the beggar President is groping for a legacy again. All he did was shuffle the diplomatic deck chairs so that he could call it his legacy rather than Clinton's.

In sum, all he has done was trash Clinton, watch NK explode a nuclear device, then scramble for a legacy agreement that has left NK in a better position than when Bush claimed office in 2000.

What an absolute waste of office, prestige, and power. That is the legacy of this beggar president.

    WilliB, I agree 100%.

w's desperation for a positive legacy is kind of sad. The thing is, he actually DID do some good. He did a lot to fight AIDS in Africa abroad and at home, he burned the neo-con candle twice as bright, at both ends, assuring that their ilk will likely have little to no influence over government for a long time.

Both are wins for the world.

Who cares what they say about their damned hypocritical list. If the criteria was objectively applied then the US would be on the top of the list.

“I’m under no illusions that this is the first step,” Bush said. “This isn’t the end of the process. This is the beginning of the process of action for action.”

What does this mean? Is it the first step or not? If not, what is it? Is it the second or third step? Is it the beginning of the process but not a step?

I bet people in all 57 states are having a tough time understanding this.

It's also comical to see the twilight of the Bush obsessed....grasping at any criticism they can possibly find while the North Korea cooling tower explodes into a million little pieces.

Hopefully the next President will be able to continue along the same road and get more concessions from the North Koreans. All in all I think it's a pretty big step forward. Sorry if that makes some people angry, but it needs to be said.

    SuperLib,

You have become the master of the covert challenge. Well done, sir. Not very honest or forthright, but well done.

I don't know anyone who hopes that this process does not continue. But what process would that be? Perhaps you could explain what that is, given that the President has no illusions that this is the first step.

It's always easier to continue something if you have a firm grasp on what the something is. The, "Duh, what they're doing," response would not be an answer.

    But superlib,

Aren't you supporting a dictator remaining in power?

  • SuperLib at 12:37 PM JST - 28th June

Nope. I support removing KJI by force. Millions have died under his rule. What about you?

  • Madverts at 04:40 PM JST - 28th June

"I support removing KJI by force."

Once quagmire at a time, Superlib.

  • SuperLib at 10:49 PM JST - 28th June

It wouldn't be a quagmire if people would all pitch in instead of turning their backs on genocide.
