Nothing new except that western media is reporting it now. Here is what chinaview.cn says: "The policy of the central government towards Dalai has been consistent and the door of dialogue has remained open," he said.

Unlike USA, China always gives priority to diplomacy.

Instead of "China Agrees to Meet Dalai Lama" we get "U.S. welcomes China's move to meet Dalai Lama..." which of course means the US is now involved in the story. And what's the first comment? "Unlike USA, China always gives priority to diplomacy."

Why not just report the news? Too often we get world news presented as the US's reaction to world news, which naturally means most comments will be about the US, not the actual news story.

I have bad feeling about this.China today,under leadership of CCP,still has this Middle Kingdom mentality,meaning it will not give an inch to international demand,or request or desire or whatever the word is. I think China will just try to sell to the world a shining,good looking box to ease pressure until after the Olympic.Only China know that it is an empty box,nothing inside.I hope I am wrong .
